Whats your wish for the first 2008 LE? - 10/10/07 02:15 AM

So what's your wish for the first 2008 LE?

Might it have to do with a milestone for a cetain lighthouse or maybe a rededication of one that has been restored.

Any wishes? Any guesses?

I'll post my wish and/or guess shortly!

I can't help but think Watch Hill RI or Ponham Rocks RI will be in the mix this year.

The crew working at Ponham Rocks has done a wonderful restoration job and that may come before Watch Hill.

I hope you're right on Pomham Rocks Bob! That would be a great addition. I would also like to see Windmill Point in Vermont, but that's a long shot to say the least.

My wish would be something like Tinicum Range, my guess would be Point San Luis.

Fred's family chose to receive memorial donations instead of flowers, something that would please Fred and his giving spirit. One of the two choices presented to people was the Point San Luis Lighthouse. This choice reflected Fred's love of lighthouses and the fact that the two California clubs both supported the Point San Luis Light.
From Dave H's original message for a memorial in Fred & Lou's name.

You know, Stan, you may be correct if Harbour Lights is getting involved in remembering Fred.

A memorial in Fred and Lou's name would be great.

And I am still hoping for a Wood Island, ME to come out, maybe in 2008.

You are both in the wrong neighborhood. . . . .

Well if you mean the light isn't from the left or right coast, it must mean a light from the Gulf Coast or the Great Lakes area. Right church, wrong pew?

Hmmm? Are we talking the mid Atlantic region? I guess we will all know tomorrow.

Bob, Is that a guess? or the neighborhood?

Sounds like it's either from a northwest state or mid-atlantic down to Florida!

We'll know soon !!!

I sure hope Thatcher's Island and/or Eastern Point is on the "modeling board" this year. HL is getting my hopes-up having made neighboring lighthouses of Annisquam and Hospital Point. Both of these bring back greay boyhood memories of Gloucester and Good Harbor Beach. Keeping my fingers crossed.

John should have the details and possibly an image. Hopefully he will be able to get the info posted here.

In the meantime, LI Bob is on the right track with part of his guess....

I found out that out of 126 lighthouse I have visited 75 have been in foreign countries. Therefore I wish Harbor Lights would reproduce more foreign light collectables. Art vhappy

Art, I am with you! This is my wish too! Here is hoping!

But they I LOVE the US lights as well and I find the HL replicas a great way of "seeing" the lights I can't physically get to!

That is why I chose the Galveston Jetty Light for our free winning gift!

Margret, I guess my request was more about Little Lights, since my collection space is small. Art smile

The two lights I would love to see as a Harbour Light are Jones Point and Sabine Pass. I remember seeing Jones Point getting some votes for the Collector Forum exclusive, so maybe they'll be hope in the future. As for Sabine Pass, this Louisiana light is just one of my favorite lights. It gets little attention and seems "lonely" as it sits silently on the Texas/Louisina border. It's also in pretty rough shape. Anyway, that's just my two cents on lights I would to see made, but I will enjoy whatever is released. smile

Sabine Pass is a very interesting light. The really unique feature of the light is the buttress construction, which makes the tower look a little like a rocket ship.

historical picture of the light

Sabine Pass website has lots of interesting info.

Dave, did we ever find out what the other 2 lighthouses with buttresses were???

Do you know if the group is still active? (website needs updating in several places).

Way back when, I do believe I asked them without receiving an answer. They might consider Sturgeon Bay Ship Canal to be one, though I would not. Not sure what other one(s) would qualify. I do believe there are some in Canada that would be considered to have buttresses.

Don't know if the group is still active or not.
