Contest Choice - 03/31/00 04:16 AM

Okay, so if you are lucky enough to be selected during the contest to have your lighthouse choice made into a HL, which would it be?

I would pick an international one, Isle of May, Scotland, or El Morro in Puerto Rico.

For me, it would be a no-brainer. It would have to be the Saginaw River Rear Range Light. While HL probably wouldn't agree with this one due to its relaitve obscurity, it is certainly my first choice.

I agree with Todd. The Saginaw River Rear Range Lt. would be my first choice. My 2nd choice would be "Wolf Trap"....a caisson-styled LH located just south of the Rappahannock River in the Chesapeake Bay.

Harbour Lights need not ask me, they already know. All my registration cards have ROCK OF AGES, MI as my requested lighthouse. I visited Rock OF Ages Lighthouse in August 1985 while on a scuba diving trip to Isle Royale NP. This is where my facination in lighthouses began along with Split Rock, MN which we visited on the way to Isle Royale.

These past few days I've read a lot about Rock of Ages. Anybody have a picture so I can see it? Any links Mombo?

I can't tell you my choice cause I'm gonna win and I'll have to keep it a secret. I need to start practicing now.

White Island, New Hampshire
or
Eastern Point, Massachusetts
or
Rockland Breakwater, Maine
or
Cleveland West Breakwater, Ohio
or
Old & New Presque Island, Michigan
or...

I don't think I could ever decide, but I sure wouldn't mind having that dilemma!

Gosh, I just can't make up my mind. What would you pick Mombo?

My choice would be the North Light at Block Island, Rhode Island. I visit it often during the summer. It is partially surrounded by sand dunes which would make for an interesting HL if they decided to add the dunes to the piece.

Re: Contest Choice - 04/01/00 07:45 PM

Hmmm... So many lighthouses, only one choice.

If I won, maybe I'd sell my chance to choose on ebay! (NOT)

Or I'd pick one of these:

[*]Point Bonita, CA

[*]Point Sur, CA

[*]Point Aux Barques, MI

I agree with Nana. CAPE ROMAIN SC (Is it Romain or Romaine?)

Re: Contest Choice - 04/03/00 09:13 PM

Randy

It's spelled Romain. Here is a web site describing it.

Re: Contest Choice - 04/04/00 06:05 PM

Thanks for the info Weasel! The closest I have ever been to this Light was back in '94 when the wife and I rented a plane (and pilot!). I got some great overhead pictures of this one and a few others in the area! Would like to be able to get closer to it in the future! Hopefully by boat!

Re: Contest Choice - 04/04/00 06:33 PM

Hereford Inlet NJ would be my first choice...definate WOW potential!

Re: Contest Choice - 04/05/00 12:29 AM

Oooh, good idea. Maybe even a GLOW version.

Re: Contest Choice - 04/05/00 03:26 AM

My spelling is lacking these days.
My husband and I went out with Captain Sandy tours to see the Georgetown and Cape Romain, SC lights this past summer. It was a great trip by boat and what great scenery.

Re: Contest Choice - 04/11/00 12:58 AM

Is that a hint Mombo? My choice would be........

Re: Contest Choice - 04/26/00 11:19 PM

I'd also want to do over the new dealer sign...what a disappointment...not only do we already have numerous versions of Hatteras, but now we have numerous versions of Assateague, I'll be passing on this one...they should've re-done North Head, WA as a nice GLOW-like version of their original logo...

Re: Contest Choice - 04/27/00 01:02 AM

I think Cape Romain would be an excellent choice.

Re: Contest Choice - 04/27/00 03:46 AM

Just cause I haven't said it in a while...Fort Gratiot Light.

My choice would be Rockland Breakwater in Maine. I had heard rumours that it was going to be done. Has anybody else heard anything? Kay

Re: Contest Choice - 04/29/00 06:17 PM

Yes I believe HL is going to release Rockland Breakwater and donate to it's restoration. In fact if you read the last chat log Mo says that's the plan.
