I'd like to see them complete the FL Reefs lights:
Alligator Reef
Sombrero Key
Rebecca Shoal

Re: My wishes... - 05/14/10 04:03 AM

I think there are others who would share your desire to see these made as HLs. Have to spread them out over several years because of all the metal work that would be involved in these (i.e., they might be expensive). Would make a great set of lights to add to your collection!

Re: My wishes... - 05/14/10 03:25 PM

I'd like to see these 3 as well, but agree with Dave that they'd have to be done one every few years.

Add 2 NJ lights, Tinicum & Finns Point, which also require a lot of metal work.

Maybe they could alternate those FL & NJ pieces over a five year period?

My wishlist:
Tinicum Range - NJ
Finns Point - NJ
Bergen Point - NJ
Miah Maull Shoal - NJ
Elbow at Cross Ledge - NJ
Romer Shoal - NJ
Robbins Reef - NJ
Great Beds - NJ
All three Duluth, MN lights
Minnesota Point - MN
Delaware Breakwater - DE
Five Fingers - AK

That's just the tip of the iceberg!!!

Always love to see "Gone but not forgotten" releases, but it's not the version I was wishing for. I'd like the current lighthouse, which can be seen from the Cape May/Lewes ferry. It should match the Harbor of Refuge piece in size.

HL392(getting close to 400) was part of a front/rear range lights off Cape Henlopen Drive. I think some of the building still exists.

This forces me to wish for a redo(bite my tongue) or now it moves my Delaware Breakwater wish to be a GLOW.

I don't think another version will ever be seen. I think this is it.

And speaking of "it", as you pointed out the LEs are nearing 400 series which is already taken. Something to think about.....

I am happy that the rest of the 2010s are here. I am trying to stay optimistic about 2011s, 15th Anniversary, and the potential HL Reunion Alaska trip, but I don't have warm "fuzzies" about HLs future. The average price for these lights ($80-$100 each) are getting a little bit too high to keep collecting these things. Only time will tell.....

The crystal ball is a wee bit "cloudy".

Re: My wishes... - 06/07/10 09:54 PM

They can go to HL905 since they won't probably be using the 900's for anymore Historical Buildings..

HB901-HB904 were used for that purpose..

HL001 - HL100 are still unused also..

I have some really good glass cleaner if you need some for your crystal ball...

Good Wednesday Morning!

I want to respond to "Freddie' rgarding the Reef Lights!

The three Lights on your "Wish List" have been considered each of the four years, I have been at Harbour Lights!

The main concern is price! working with metal is very expensive. We clearly know our collector and the price tolerance of our product!

Ok that said, Freddie "dreams do come true" wait for 2011!

I still want an LE version of Point Lookout, Maryland.

Re: My wishes... - 06/10/10 11:00 PM

Ohhhhhh....

.... a LE of not only Point Lookout, but we need Blackistone, MD as well! This would make my day! Heck with a LLOM exclusive of Hooper Island on its way, you may as well throw in a LE of Hooper Island too! (It's just a large mold... right?)

How about the old Ambrose Lighttower with a USCG helicopter on its deck?

Re: My wishes... - 06/12/10 01:53 AM

Looks like one of the plainest, simpliest, and basic light structures I've seen. Definitely a budget model that did the job.

Does anyone know of one that is still intact and in fairly good condition that beats this one?

Re: My wishes... - 06/12/10 02:27 AM

I would love to see Jones Point come out next year. I also would like to see the CGC Storis in Anchor Bay and either an Alaskan or Hawaiian lighthouse.

Re: My wishes... - 06/12/10 05:51 PM

I would really like to see one of these Michigan Lights to come out next year (2011)...

-Thunder Bay Island Light, MI

-Rock Harbor Light located on Lake Superior's Isle Royale, MI

-Poverty Island Light, MI (how it looked during its prime)

-South Fox Island and its two lights, MI

-Isle Royale (Menagerie Island), MI

Any of these three lighthouse's would make for a great addition to anyone's collection!!! smile

Also, some cool gone but not forgotten pieces could be...

-Old North Manitou Island Light, MI, which fell into Lake Michigan in 1968

-Old Cheboygan Main Light Station, MI that was torn down during the 1940's

-Old Mama Juda Island Light, MI that was torn down around 1921 (very little is known about this light station, but from some of the old photos I've seen on-line it looked like a grand station at one point)

-Old Belle Ilse Lighthouse, MI which was torn down in the 1970s-1980s.

My wishlist:

To complete the NJ Lighthouse Challenge Lights:

Tinicum Range - NJ
Finns Point - NJ

A couple "Gone but not forgotten":

Bergen Point - NJ
Cross Ledge - NJ

And a something from the Delaware & Hudson Bays:

Miah Maull Shoal - NJ
Old Ambrose Lightstation - NJ

Re: My wishes... - 06/15/10 03:30 AM

When we went to Jones Point a few years back, the building of the new Woodrow Wilson bridge was well under way. That little lighthouse was dwarfed by the HUGE machines that surrounded it!! They were impressive!

Re: My wishes... - 06/15/10 04:21 PM

Jones Point is at the top of my list, too.

Re: My wishes... - 06/24/10 12:56 AM

I would like to see Jones Point as well, and also as I have mentioned before as a gone but not forgotten, Back River Lighthouse, VA.
Posted By: DANIEL

Re: My wishes... - 06/24/10 04:28 PM

I would also like to see Jones Point as a L.E.
My dream was for it to be a forum exclusive with a limited edition of 500 or better yet 300. I guess I will never see that happen. The big problem HL has with making the Jones Point is that it is so plain. I would assume that HL feels that it being so plain would make it a bad seller.

I totally disagree.

1. I feel that Harry can spruce this lighthouse up with a tree and the original picket fence with his Harry Magic to make this lighthouse just as pleasing to the eye as many of the other longhouses. Of course this lighthouse could never be considered a WOW!!!!! But I would bet it could look pretty neat if properly done.
2. The Jones Point is a popular Lighthouse being near a tourist region in Arlington.
3. This lighthouse is located in a region that many lighthouse figurines are collected. Many collectors would buy this light just to complete there south of the border collection.

This would also be a good candidate for a green water version. The Potomac River has an algae problem in the summer. There is no debate about this water being green, it really exist. We could have a green water summer version and a blue water winter version.

Re: My wishes... - 06/24/10 06:12 PM

My wish for the last Forums Exclusive was also Jones Point rather than Wisconsin Point. I am not a fan of breakwater lights and I felt an east coast light was the way to go instead of a second light from the great lakes area. Harry did a FANTASTIC job on the Wisconsin Point replica and I know he could have spruced up Jones Point equally.
Posted By: Lighthouse Loon

Re: My wishes... - 07/24/10 05:56 PM

While I voted for Wisconsin Point, I think the next CF exclusive(If there is another) should be an east coast light. Jones Point might be the best choice given it's popularity on the CF.

Re: My wishes... - 07/24/10 10:13 PM

Loon - I wouldn't count on another Exclusive unless h--- freezes over or you buy the remaining 100 or so Wisconsin Points that are left, whichever happens first.

IMO - I think we should put the Wisconsin Point piece aside and do another exclusive. One that would have more appeal to more forum members. I know everybody had their chance to vote, but maybe next time more will take the time to vote.

Re: My wishes... - 07/26/10 06:28 PM

The problem is, with that idea, would we be able to sell enough to break even. We have to sell at least 250 to break even and I don't know if there are enough members to sell that many. The other problem is storage. Dave's garage is still full of Wisconsin Points at this time and I know that he doesn't want any more exclusives to store. Unless the powers to be decide differently, I think we may have seen our last exclusive for awhile.

Re: My wishes... - 07/27/10 11:11 PM

If we were to do another eclusive (Which I would like to see done) I think we should
1. Decide on which we'd like to see done
2. Take pre-orders
3. If we get enough orders, then and only then have the sculpture made.
Posted By: flacoastie

Re: My wishes... - 07/28/10 12:16 AM

That might not be a bad idea about the pre-orders. It would be interesting to see how many we could sell.
Posted By: DANIEL

Re: My wishes... - 07/28/10 04:13 AM

Bert

I think you have a brilliant idea.
What also would be a good idea is for someone that is going to the reunion, volunteer to take names, address and phone number for pre-orders.
The pre-order would have to be a non-cash reserve to just see if this would be possible.

I think we need to lock-in the Jones point as the lighthouse. The size is right and is a very well known light by both northerns and southerns.
I also feel that HL has not intention of ever making it.
We would have to focus on a 250 to 300 production. That may not be feasible in a L.E. but it could be done in a oversized L.L.M.
Posted By: Lighthouse Loon

Re: My wishes... - 07/28/10 05:13 AM

I like the pre-order idea, but you lose me if its an LLOM.

My guess is that 400 pieces is the minimum.

IMO, the next CF exclusive will sell better as long as it's not a Great Lakes lighthouse.
Posted By: DANIEL

Re: My wishes... - 07/28/10 03:00 PM

I think 500 is the minimum that the factory will make for a full size.
There is no way we could even dream of meeting that number.
The LLOM min has been as low as 300.
We would issue the Jones Point as a limited edition not as a little light of mine.
In other words use a limited edition HL number but use the process that is used to make a LLOM. Push the size to the extreme that is possible with the process used.
Even if the Jones Point is made much smaller than the L.E. it probably would still be proportionally correct. I would try to request a size twice as big as the Bailey Harbour and see if a min of 200 is possible.
Posted By: Lighthouse Loon

Re: My wishes... - 07/28/10 03:42 PM

Weren't the edition sizes of Duxbury Pier & Jordan Point less than 500?
Posted By: DANIEL

Re: My wishes... - 07/28/10 04:08 PM

Duxbury Pier was 500
I believe HL had to get a min of 500 for the Jordan Point even though they did not give away that many.

Re: My wishes... - 07/28/10 10:13 PM

I am glad to hear that people are receptive to the idea of a 3rd Collectors Forum exclusive, even if it is handled in a different approach (i.e. take a survey of interest first).

I for one will speak up and be on record to say that if Jones Point, VA is the lighthouse to be chosen by the Forum (as evident from an earlier poll), I will pre-order 2 of them.

However, I am more in favor for a limited edition piece that is the size similar to the Wisconsin Point (2nd Collectors Forum piece) and/or Duxbuy, MA, and not a LLOM size.

Just my two cents.... Thanks for even considering doing another forums piece in the future..... "We" must keep open minded regarding the issue and I would like to see the interest survey conducted.
Posted By: Lighthouse Loon

Re: My wishes... - 07/29/10 01:47 AM

If there is a third CF exclusive, you can count on me to pre order 2 pieces. And I'll even buy a third Wisconsin Point if a 3rd CF piece becomes reality! As long as it's not a LLOM.

Re: My wishes... - 07/29/10 05:18 AM

This thread seems to have been re-directed from Freddie's wish list for FL reef lights he would like to see to a discussion about another CF exclusive light. Let me help re-direct the discussion to a wish list for HL (as opposed to the forums). Let me also bring the discussion of another exclusive to an ugly end at this point in time.

(1) Won't even begin to think about another exclusive until the entire WP run is sold out. Every last one of them gone.
(2) We have taken expressions of interest in the past. Lots of people say they will buy. Maybe half, at best, actually do. Trust me, I appreciate each and every one of you who has participated in this effort (as well as the original piece, Erie Land Light). The WP is a wonderful piece, well done and nicely sized. And, not unreasonably priced when you consider the price includes shipping. Sorry for those of you who don't like the GL. There are more lights on the GL than the other 3 coasts combined, and more lights in the size range we needed to look at. The members who took the time to vote chose the light.
(3) Minimum production of lights is 500, including LLs. The custom LLs were sold to the various groups in a 300 quantity, and HL held back 200 to put into un-numbered, normal distribution about 6 months after the group received theirs.
(4) Given the experience with this light, before I would support another effort we would have to have paid orders for at least half the run so the bill could be paid.

If you want to discuss a potential exclusive for 2013 or so, please take that discussion to a new thread either in the FSB or the exclusive forum.

Let us now return this thread to its original intent.....

Re: My wishes... - 07/29/10 04:23 PM

Appreciate your input Dave!

While I agree the CF Exclusive discussion could be better suited in a different forum, it is something on many CF members wishlist. So it does fit here. But given the numbers of posts between Rich, Daniel, and myself, with a little input from Bert & Christopher, we should have moved it at an early point. My apologies !!!

Re: My wishes... - 07/30/10 02:40 AM

IMO, I think the three Duluth Harbor lights would make a great three piece Collector Society set. The smallest one could be the gift/signup piece. The other two could be seperate pieces that fit together since they are very near each other. Two smaller piece instead of one big purchase piece.

This one would make a great Great Lakes CS set !!!

Agreed Loon. Any of the Duluth lights are long overdue.

While I certainly concur with those wanting the Duluth Harbor light, my personal wish would be for the old, original lighthouse on the Minnesota Point side of the Superior Entry off Lake Superior. It would be a great companion piece to the Wisconsin Point light.
