Tibbett's Point Lighthouse - 01/15/03 09:35 PM
I would like to see Tibbett's Point as a new LE for 2003, especially with its great looking fog signal building.

Mike, I went and checked out the site you posted and I agree that it would make an interesting new LE. Very neat looking fog signal building as mentioned in your post. Are both of the houses keeper's quarters?

We will have to refer that question to our Western NY expert, "Mombo". Hey Sue can you shed some light about Tibbett's Point?
Thanks

From the info on the NPS site I'd say that it is.

Great suggestion Mike! It would have to include the fog signal building and the keepers house to make it just right!

Ah Tibbett's Point Lighthouse. .We used the Journey Along the New York State Seaway Trail booklet as a guide. We did get to see Presque Isle and Erie, 30 mile Island, Dunkirk, Barcelona, Buffalo Main Light, Ft Niagara, Port Jalhousie in Canada, then on our way back south, did get to see the lighthouse at Tibbett's Point. It is a very nice drive from town, right along the lake. We also saw a lighthouse on the side of the road,(of course had to stop and take a picture of that), which had been located on the Cape Vincent Breakwater from 1900 to 1951, when it was moved to its present location, which serves as a landmark when approaching the village. The town before reaching the lighthouse was really quaint, had some nice shops.
