International Lighthouse Name Game - 02/23/01 04:44 PM
Yet another variation on the Lighthouse Name Game.
Only lighthouses OUTSIDE the United States can be named. And especially for those who just can't seem to keep it to one post per person (That's you Bob & Brent), the limit is one reply per person PER DAY.

Tuskar Rock (Ireland)
52°12.2' North, 6°12.4' West
History:
Tuskar Rock lighthouse marks a treacherous cluster of rocks 7 nautical miles east-north-east of Carnsore Point. The lighthouse was completed in 1815 after 4 years’ work. During construction ten workmen were washed off the rock during a violent storm and another man, a stonecutter, fell 72 feet to his death. The fine granite tower with its bell-shaped base was built to a design specified by George Halpin, Inspector of Lighthouses to the Corporation for Preserving and Improving the Port of Dublin, by the Corporation’s own workforce. Tuskar lighthouse, which has a white tower, was converted to electric in 1938 – the first Irish off-shore lighthouse to be electrified. It has a 500mm catadioptric annual lens and an electric MBI 1kW lamp. The lighthouse was automated on 31st March 1993.

Re: International Lighthouse Name Game - 03/01/01 02:45 PM
Hey John,
These are my reasons:
1. Overload
2. Stress
3. Forgetting to reread the rules
4. And on and on and on
I'll try to be a good player from now on!
I promise!!!!

Okay, am I the one not following the right rules again? Are we going to use the e in lighthouse if the previous poster used or are we going to disregard lighthouse and go to the last letter of the name?
Help me here folks...I don't want to look like the odd girl out!

Re: International Lighthouse Name Game - 03/01/01 08:48 PM
You can use the last letter in any of the words. We'd give you extra points if it was the MAIN word in the lighthouse name such as "S" in Cape Hatteras, but you can fall back on the "E" in Cape or the "E" in Lighthouse if you're stuck - even if the previous person didn't add the word "lighthouse" to their post.
And we all love you, Nana. Otherwise we wouldn't tease you.
