Lighthouse State of Mind...

Lighthouse State of Mind... - 06/14/05 02:01 AM

I havn't had a new game here in a while, but this could be a fun one.

I don't know if you've ever played that game where someone mentions something (e.g. black) and you have to come up with the first thing that comes to mind (say "box"). How about we adapt that to lighthouses?

Here's how it works: I'll post either a region of the US, a part of a lighthouse name (usually one with two words or more) to start, and the first three people to reply have to post the first lighthouse that comes to mind. Then, you post a new clue, the person who answers that posts a clue, etc. etc. etc.

Fine print: You can only post every third "round", and only once per day. That way, the most people can play.

I'll start with:

NEW YORK HARBOR

Lady Liberty

New Clue: A cow and a light

Chicago fire? laugh

(Obviously not that cow!)

How about Middle Bay, Al Stephanie? smile

Re-reading the rules it sounds like I was supposed to give an answer to NY Harbor?

How about Fort Wadsworth, then?

For Chicago Fire I'll put William E Dever Crib Lighthouse (it was the scene of a fire)

New clue: Mysterious

If I have to put one for NY Harbor, I'll say Cedar Island (could you be a little more specific how this works seagirt?)

Zachary - Cedar Island isn't in NY Harbor, it is on Long Island (northeast of Sag Harbor). laugh

Alright...looks like there's confusion. Here's a little "demo" to help, because even I'll admit my description was a little hard to understand.

Hopefully this helps...

Clue: Cape

Answer: Hatteras (C. Hatteras being the first light that popped into Happyperson's mind when they saw the word "Cape")

New Clue: San Francisco

Answer: Fort Point (that being the first San Francisco lighthouse to pop into his mind)

New Clue: Ara-

Answer: Arago (Cape Arago Light)

New Clue: Outer Banks
---

END DEMO

Hopefully that gave you a better idea of how to play. The other questions:

Each "round" consists of one clue and one corresponding answer. The person who answers has to supply a new clue. The clues can ONLY be either a part of a name of a lighthouse (either a full word, such as Cape, or a part of a word, such as Ara-), or a region of the country (must be somewhat specific, "Lake Ontario" instead of "Great Lakes")

Let's start over with "NY Harbor". Hopefully this isn't a game that was better in my mind. frown
