Lighthouses With Diagonal Stripes

Lighthouses With Diagonal Stripes - 08/29/02 04:10 PM

Looking at a photo of White Shoal elsewhere on the Forum, I got to wondering when the FIRST lighthouse appeared with the stripe wrapped diagonally around the lighthouse. And whether the stripes always go in the same direction.

Anyone have any ideas?

But let's also make a list of American Ligthhouses with diagonal stipes - same old rules, one post per person per day. Extra credit if you can provide a link to a photo. Or if you have YOUR OWN photo, you can post it here.

Couldn't find a single light in New England that had or has a diagonal stripe. I don't think there are too many of these. Should be interesting as to how many of these show up.

But I did find this one Cape Hatteras, North Carolina

Randy beat me to St. Augustine, great going Randy!

Contis, France - many confuse it with Hattera/Augustine
