Looks like we need another clue. How about the fact that it's not far from a natural wonder?

Fort Niagara Light? (Didn't recognize it as I've only seen it with the leaves in full bloom.)

Re: Ident-A-Lighthouse Part II - 02/09/06 04:10 AM

To me, the clues seem to be for Sand Point, MI, but the picture doesn't appear to be that one:

Yep, with a bit of help from my friend. . . .

The first clue (stretching it for sure) for this one is "Romeo & Juliet:"

I'm only showing a hint of this lighthouse. Some will know it instantly if I showed much more.

Need a hint? Not in the West Coast one.

With the stickers, I've got a ready reference to all the USA lights. It came to me it was in CT and scanned the sticker page and saw the name. Matching the picture, I realized the clue sealed it.

Re: Ident-A-Lighthouse Part II - 02/10/06 08:04 PM

John you need to go back and read the rules for this game..

Quote:
The image should show as much of the light as possible (not a detail), and the light should be visible easily in the photo (no magnifying glasses or other additional items needed to play).
As laid down by Greg!!

Re: Ident-A-Lighthouse Part II - 02/11/06 12:19 AM

Paul...good call. Sorry John...that one won't work here. It did, however, give me inspiration for something for the future...a different take on this game, using details, for if this one slows down ever. Not right now, but in the future...

Re: Ident-A-Lighthouse Part II - 02/11/06 05:15 AM

Well folks, this is such a distinctive lighthouse that showing just the detail of it makes the identification a bit harder.

Here's a bit more. I know, I know, show the whole lighthouse...

Okay, I didn't want to be the one again because then I have to let someone else post a new light for me, but here it is - I think!

Grace,

Link doesn't work--???

Sandy

P.S. I always use the "Preview Post" key and test either a link or find out whether I've correctly keyed the link to a picture before I click the "Add Reply" hot key--saves frustration after the fact. . . .

I remember it from when you posted the image the first time.. I thought I would allow others to guess.. It's one of the few lighthouses that is still manned, so to speak...

Sounds Canadian...

The rules state..

posting a photo of a lighthouse somewhere in the US

Re: Ident-A-Lighthouse Part II - 02/19/06 05:55 AM

I think I know generally which one this is...not exactly, but I recognise it. The rules DO state that somewhat-famous foreign lights are acceptable. However, I only know of it from flipping through a book and stumbling upon it. I think that many others won't.

Tom - don't worry about it. If you'd like, you can reveal the name of this light and post another one. It does look interesting and unique...maybe just too unique for it to really work in the game. smile

Re: Ident-A-Lighthouse Part II - 02/19/06 05:27 PM

Sorry folks. Thats Gros Cap Reef on Lk. Ontario in Southern Whitefish Point. The plow shape helps fend off ice and waves and its at the mouth of St. Marys River system. This is the light that made the US light at Pt. Iroquois obsolete. Man, I didn't think I could remember all that. Ha. ha! Those books are great, eh!!
Give me a few minutes and I'll dig out another one.
