Sandy Neck Donations - Chatham LL Piece #1 - 12/16/07 09:46 PM

Thank you to everyone who purchased our Chatham "Little Light," and then, donated to Sandy Neck Lighthouse, by entering our raffle for piece #1. The winner's name was drawn, and as we had promised on the entry form, will be receiving it gift-wrapped and delivered to their door on Christmas Eve. To keep it a surprise, the winner's name will not be posted on our web site until after Christmas.

With raffle tickets only costing 2/$5.00 (much less per ticket if you donated more than $5.00), we still raised several hundred dollars, to be used in 2008 by the Sandy Neck Restoration Committee for the restoraton of the oil house. Most everyone here probably already knows that the lighthouse tower was relit on October 20th.

Being from Cape Cod, I'd like to publicly say "thank you" to all who have helped in the relighting of Sandy Neck, as well as its continued restoration. It had been dark for much too long. It is a joy to see, and will be even more in the summer months when the boating traffic entering and exiting Barnstable Harbor is able to use her light and full daymark, now that the lantern has been replaced at the top of the tower. It is another success story thanks to many of you who frequent these forums and have given of themselves and their resources to make it happen. We Cape Cod residents thank all of you so very, very much.
cheers

Great job, Jim. Wonderful to use a special piece like that to help benefit an area light. And, thanks to all who participated.
