Re: Round Robin #6 - 06/13/03 11:42 PM

Received the robin today, took & replaced 7 cards. It will be going out to Shirin tomorrow. I put the cards in a baggie due to the monsoon season! I told I.O. not to even put the envelope in our mailbox if it's still raining as it leaks so he offered to deliver it to the P.O. smile

(George, please correct your records as you had Shirin's old address on the mailing label. Thanks.)

Thanks Mombo. :p I was going thru some of my numerous PCE and RR mailing lists (which total about 13), and must havve copied his old address instead of his new one when making this one up.. Will correct. wink

George,

You might want to correct the gender also- he's a she.

Thanks for adding that correction Dennis. I might be a junior version of my father but I'm not a Dennis Jr. I'm technically a Denise.

I KNEW that from previous PCE's and RR's and still made the most obvious error. I apologize SweetP, I guess fate just had me lined up for errors and they were all about you!!

Re: Round Robin #6 - 06/17/03 12:54 PM

No problem George. I'm sort of used to it? Before kindergarten many people confused me for a boy. I looked like my father and didn't have the long pretty hair many girls have. All it took was one comment from someone in the grocery store and my mom was off and running to get me a perm so I looked like a girl. smile

Larry, what am I missing with your comment above "in its state home." ???? Ich verstehe nicht.

Re: Round Robin #6 - 07/03/03 04:37 AM

Probably a reference to the fact that the robin is Wisconsin's state bird

We have successfully completed cycle 1 of RR#6!! Congrats to all, hopefullly all got some good cards for their collections. RR#6-2 is about to start with the following mailing order chosen at random, except for me being last.

Randy Kremer
Lorie Roe
Susan LeFever
JoAnn Dawley
Joyce Holland
Tom&Joyce Abbott
Larry Radloff
Darlene Cook
Shirin Pagels
George Hood

Cards go out in Murphy's mail tomorrow 8/15. Coming your way Randy!!
Fortunately you all live out of town from me. Our mail is definitely stupid. If I send anything to anyone in Murphy the mail is brought to the Murphy Post Office (yes, we have one!), then transported by truck to Asheville (~100 miles away), sorted, transported by truck back to Murphy PO, and then delivered. So to pay a bill by mail within Murphy might take 5-6 days, the same time it takes to go clear across the country!!

Re: Round Robin #6 - 09/21/03 02:24 AM

Received the cards today from JoAnn, took out 6 and they are ready to go out to Tom and Joyce. Will probably be on Monday. We are still cleaning up from Hurricane Isobel, which shortened our vacation this week. We returned home to prepare our home for the storm. Good thing we did, or we would have had some upset neighbors if our lawn furniture decided to visit their house through a window. Winds here were very close to 100 mph.

Re: Round Robin #6 - 10/22/03 01:36 AM

I may be a few days in getting the cards out as I'm out of state to be with my father who's having a lung removed. It may be 7-10 days before I return to NC and "get" the cards. Bear with me and thanks in advance.

Re: Round Robin #6 - 10/22/03 11:53 PM

George, the cards will be waiting for your return. They were mailed today. I hope your father's opperation goes well.

Re: Round Robin #6 - 10/29/03 05:59 PM

I'm back waiting on the cards to arrive. My father's operation went pretty well, considering his age (82) and all that he's been thru in the last four years ( 2 heart ops, a brain op, chemo, and lung removal). Bless his soul he's doing well and the power of prayer always works.

Will turn the cards around in 24 hrs once I get them. Thanks,

I think the Murphy Mule is lost!!! Thank goodness the USPS is not an airplane as its reliability would nver allow it to leave the ground!

So how much longer do we wait until restarting this robin? I don't quite have the 10 postcards to restart it yet but hope to pick some up this next weekend so I can restart it after that.

There have been others that took longer to arrive in other PCE's, so I suggest we give it until the end of this week. If nothing by 11/8, we'll restart at that time. Those of you who have read any number of my posts know that I'm not a fan of the USPS as their "failure rate" is higher than any other company would tolerate. . The only reason all my bills get paid on time all the time is that I do them electronically and do not rely on the USPS. Wherever possible in other circumstances I use UPS or FEDEX as they are more reliable than the USPS. I joke a lot about the "Murphy Mule" here in conjunction with the USPS, but unfortunately here in this corner of NC they really are sloooow, inefficient, and unreliable.
This is not the first instance of problems as I have provided written complaints to the local Postmaster with "zero" responses.

Well that should give me some time to collect the rest of my postcards.

Re: Round Robin #6 - 11/03/03 08:57 PM

Judy, you just signed up for the new round robin that John started. Don't know what number has been assigned to it, probably #8. This thread pertains only to RR#6. There is also another one in progress, RR#7.

It gets a bit confusing as many of the same people are in all three of them.

I'll say!
