SIGN UP ---- 2009 LIGHTHOUSE CHRISTMAS CARD EXCHANGE - 10/16/09 02:09 AM
2009 LIGHTHOUSE CHRISTMAS CARD EXCHANGE / Sign up Rules are:
1. Everyone who signs up must send one Christmas Card to each person on the list.
2. The Christmas Card must have a Lighthouse on it.
3. Cards may be Store bought (shelf stock) or Special ordered using your photos or Homemade.
Please mail your cards no later than December 15, so that everyone will receive them in-time for the Holiday! (I don't mean to be rude, but if you don't think that you can mail your cards by the 15th of December please don't sign up.)
Sign up time will start today and run through November 1st. (2 weeks +)
CORRECTION HELD OVER TILL NOVEMBER 15TH.I will then work up a mailing list and email to all participants. You will then have 30 to 45 days to acquire and mail your cards on time.
We
all new participants! If you haven't participated in a Christmas Card Exchange in the past, those who have can tell you how much fun it can be.
Please sign up and enjoy the fun! It's amazing how many different cards you will receive!
When you sign up here, also send me an email to einahpetSrelgniD@aol.com with your Name and Mailing Address along with your email address. Use 2009 Lighthouse Christmas Card Exchange as your Subject heading. This will help me to generate a correct mailing list for all. Thank You!

I have a question for you all.
Last year (2008) we only had 13 participants. In 2007 there was 25. In 2006 there was 24. And in 2005 there was 21.
This is my first year to head this up. And I'm hoping that by starting the sign up a month earlier than anybody has done before that the extra lead time will give more people time to get their cards and thereby give more people an opportunity to join in. Also I have sent out emails to some that I think might like to participate, but may not read the forums very often. I'm hoping for 25 to 30 participants this year!
Now the QUESTION is: Do we want to let Non-Forum members to participate? I have several Lighthouse Friends who are not Forum members, whom I think would be interested in the Christmas Card Exchange. As I'm sure many of you do too!
I vote for YES.... but what do you say?

I also would vote for YES, but am I allowed to vote, since I will not be able to take part? With us living in England and postal prices what they are ...
But I think the Christmas Cards Exchange is brilliant and I wish you all a lot of fun with it! And thank you to Stephanie for organising it!

I'm on the fence about participating. Depends on my work situation.
Either way I vote "No". I'd rather it to be forum members exclusive list.

I think I am #4 on the sign up list. I would let non forum members join as a way of increasing the participation on the forum. I would think if new people participate they would be interested in lighthouses. Who knowes, they might even become interested in Harbour Lights! I just would cap the total participation to a reasonable number.

I'll be #5. I think we should let Forum members have the first opportunity. If we haven't filled up to 25 - let others join us. I also know a few others that would like to participate that do not post here but they do collect Harbour Lights.

With only 11 members and only 2 days left of sign-up. Should we hold over sign up for an extension of time, or go with the 11 (+1)?
I believe the lack of participants here is a true sign of people not viewing the forums anymore!

Hi Steph,
You might want to hold it open longer. Maybe another two weeks, or more? People might get into the holiday mood more once we get passed Halloween. Also, folks who do not view often but have participated in the past, might be just planning to check in and sign up at the time it was held in the past.

For some reason I do not receive any emails that are from AOL, I'm pretty sure that is why I didn't get the address labels.

Stef, Thanks for the compliment about my card. I bought them from Lighthouse Depot Wish I was squared away on photos. I liked your winter/summer version.
Both Judys, your cards were really neat.
I'm still not really in the house. My friend Madeline nags me about not having the garage cleared out enough to put the car into it. This a.m. was the first day I felt like kicking myself for not having had it in the garage last night, but the infamouse east coast snow storm wasn't really as bad as predicted. I got about 2" on my deck. It is hard to tell how much we got when we get drifts.

I too have recieved all the cards except for Hib's. I have emailed him about this and don't get any responce. Hib is the only one in this exchange who is NOT a forum member. Hib is in his late 80's ... I hope nothing has happened to him!

I hereby call this 2009 Christmas Card Exchange Complete!
I received Hib's card today! I assume that if you haven't gotten it yet, it will be there any day.
As I suspected Hib has been in the hospital (good reason for the delay).
His card is more like an advertisement for the Hillsboro Lighthouse than a Christmas Card. But it dose say "Season's Greetings and Holiday Good Cheers", and it dose have a Lighthouse on the front of the card "Hillsboro Inlet". So I guess that qualifies!

Hib's card finally made it to St. Louis, I now have all the cards. Thanks Stephanie for coordinating this exchange. All the cards were beautiful. I really enjoyed checking my mail each day to see what lighthouse might be there.
I'm looking forward to next year.

Stef, you did a great job with the exchange. They are such fun and because of them, I felt like I already knew some of you whom I hadn't me when I went on the trip in September. Oh, by the way, I put the car in the garage today - after a tiny snowfall during the night.
