Benedict on the Patuxent - 09/29/06 11:33 PM

I'm not sure that this is the proper forum for this but it comes as close as anything I could figure out.

In a restaurant on the Patuxent River (in Maryland) named River's Edge, they have artwork displayed for sale. Two of the pieces are lighthouses painted on glass

I like the Thomas Point one

better than the Fishing Battery one.

I don't know what prices these things are.

Painted on glass? That's pretty cool.

Back in 7th grade, I did an art project with an old window that had 6 panes, and made each one a depiction of a famous ocean liner. It's pretty cool, even though I now really don't have anywhere to put it.

I might try my hand at some lighthouse window art - we just put new windows in in the whole 2nd floor of our house, so we have a lot of old, wooden, single-pane windows lying around (part of the big pile of junk that was supposed to get thrown in a dumpster in May...then June...then July...and happy October!). I painted my cieling fan once with the 4 OBX lights, so I guess I have some (2D) painting skill.

I think I'll give it a try. Have to think about that one...maybe a winter project.

Sorry...thinking via post.

It looks like it would be similar to my paintings on screens, except that I think the thinner the paint (more like a watercolor) would show the light through it better.
