In-Envelope PC Exchange Interest???

Posted By: Sooner Schooner

In-Envelope PC Exchange Interest??? - 08/26/08 05:20 PM

I might be interested in kicking off an
in-envelope postcard exchange. Considering how long my round-robin took... Is there interest of doing an in-envelope exchange this fall or would people rather wait until the start of the new year since Christmas card exchange is looming on the horizon?
NOTE: I'm NOT running the holiday card exchange, I know other folk do that. ALSO, I would NOT manage an Out-of-Envelope exchange. Let's have someone else step up to the plate to take care of that one, if there is enough interest.

Re: In-Envelope PC Exchange Interest??? - 09/07/08 07:46 PM

Hilari,

In-Envelope exchange is a: New, Un-used, Un-addressed, Un-marked lighthouse postcard. Placed into an addressed envelope and mailed. Mail one to each person on the list, all the same card if possible.

Some people use this opportunity to add a little surprise in the envelope as well. Maybe information about the lighthouse pictured on the postcard. Or a photo that they have taken of that lighthouse, or maybe an extra postcard with a different view of the same light.

Some have added special things like a Lighthouse Bookmark, a Lighthouse Swizzle Stick, a Lighthouse pocket calendar... etc. Something special that they wanted to give to their lighthouse friends.

The additions are not required by any means! But the IN-ENVELOPE dose give you that opportunity if you have something that you want to share.

I have made it a habit of buying 30 of the same card to use for in these exchanges (both IN- Envelope and NO-Envelope), however in the last few years our numbers have dropped and it is usually around 13 to 15 participates. So I've had lots of cards leftover these last few years. These I use to put into the Round Robins or just mail to friends.

Re: In-Envelope PC Exchange Interest??? - 09/26/08 10:36 PM

Last call, you have until the end of September to sign up. After then, I'll try to find some time to work up the mailing list/ label format. At that time I will work on addresses, who do I not have, any changes, etc.
Posted By: Sooner Schooner

Re: In-Envelope PC Exchange Interest??? - 10/01/08 05:24 PM

OK, we will go with the numbers we have. If you did "NOT" participate in the round robin that I ran this year, please e-mail or private mesg. me with your name and address ASAP. Hopefully I can match up everybody else's "handle's" and locations from the sign up here with the mailing list I have from the robin. I will then send it out, not to be printed in label form (yet), until I know there are no changes to be made. After then, I will send out the final list for you all's label printing needs.

Re: In-Envelope PC Exchange Interest??? - 11/25/08 10:22 PM

Almost there! Waiting on one more mailing address to add to the list. Will then send out for correction check. Thanks, bill e.

Re: In-Envelope PC Exchange Interest??? - 11/29/08 03:59 PM

List is Done! I'll e-mail it to participants on Monday, for any corrections that might be needed. (I'm away from my home computer right now.) The final tally is 14, so that means 13 plus yourself. Also, I'll note the labels you can use to print out the list, AFTER any corrections, so you don't have to address 13 envelopes by hand, unless you just want to. Some folks might be in the mood, since you could be in the process of knocking out your Christmas/ holiday cards early!
Posted By: Sooner Schooner

Re: In-Envelope PC Exchange Interest??? - 12/01/08 03:17 AM

LIST has been sent out to all participants for address mistakes/ corrections! If you did not receive an e-mail from me with the list as an attachment, let me know asap. I probably muffed up your e-mail address when I did the mass e-mailing. I muffed one up already, that I have re-sent to. If any corrections are needed, e-mail me. You all have until about this same time next Sunday (12/7) to do so. If needed, I'll re-send to everyone on e-mail list, the new "corrected" list. Otherwise, I'll let you know, ON THIS POST, that it is OK to start mailing out with the list you have from me.
Posted By: Sooner Schooner

Re: In-Envelope PC Exchange Interest??? - 12/07/08 11:23 PM

1 minor correction & START MAILING!!! Change your listing for "Glen & Ellie" to "Ellie". Otherwise, get going! Don't forget, one listng is across the pond (or all your listings are across the pond). So don't forget the extra postage. ALSO, reply to this post as to when you sent your batch off AND when you got one & from who. LOOK at Shortcake's posting on Sept. 7 for other information. Any other questions? Ask them here and I or somebody should be able to answer them. Enjoy...

Re: In-Envelope PC Exchange Interest??? - 02/16/09 11:42 PM

*ALERT: We have a late add to the mailing list! A friend of Dave Wilkinson in the UK, in his zeal to get involved in the exchange, has already sent out pc's to a handful of folks on the mailing list, with the rest to follow. Unfortunately neither Dave or I knew about this. He has not logged on yet to become a member and post. Dave told him to contact me first. I found out by receiving his postcard. Dave has been in contact with him to explain how this works so we can avoid any confusion in the future. We certainly do not want to discourage new participants, so I feel we should try to return the favor and make him a late addition to the current mailing list:

Re: In-Envelope PC Exchange Interest??? - 03/23/09 06:33 AM

I am still missing 3 cards from John Young, Tammy Wolfe, and Roy and Carolyn McBee.

I never did receive a card from Derek Harvey.

The first card I received was from Bill Edwards on 12/5/2008 of the Portsmouth Lightship. I think over 3 months is getting to be long enough for everyone to get their cards sent out.

However... yes, I did get a nice card from Derek Harvey.

Re: In-Envelope PC Exchange Interest??? - 03/24/09 08:31 PM

That matches my list. I'll drop a note to them to see if we can get this finished up soon.

I did not set a deadline because folks should understand that this is a sooner rather than later venture. A deadline is not enforceable.

But enough time has passed to get this wrapped up.
Posted By: Sooner Schooner

Re: In-Envelope PC Exchange Interest??? - 03/27/09 06:34 PM

I have heard from one of the three that are still missing from the completion of this exchange. Figuring that their mailing will be going out shortly, if not already, that just leaves two to go.

With that being said, I'm willing to start another exchange, pending sufficient numbers signing up to participate. This one will be an out-of-envelope exchange. I'll be starting a new topic for that one.
