Question About the Lighted GLOWS

I have a GLOW edition of Cape Henry which runs on an adaptor or batteries.

The light has stopped flashing. It's not the adaptor, because I've tried it with a new one, so it must be the bulb.

Does anyone know how to get to the bulb to replace it?

Help would be most appreciated!

Judy have you tried using it with batteries? Could be an internal connection problem.

Lonnie, no, I haven't tried it with batteries. But I will. That will at least give me another chance to see if the bulb will work.

The thing is, there doesn't seem to be a visible way to get to the bulb, if one had too.

Granted, I've probably worn it out, because this one has been on for some hours of the day since I first received it.

My first inclination when the light went out was to call the Coast Guard!

If I were in your situation, I'd call Harbour Lights direct in order to get the answer. After testing with batteries, that is.

Assuming that fails, maybe try removing the four screws on the bottom of the base. They sure didn't build the piece around the bulb.

The more I thought about your problem, the more curious I became. So I examined one of my GLOWS and took a look. There are four small screws holding the bottom in place. Remove the screws. Carefully pull the black mechanism out, being cautious not to break the wires leading to the bulb or bulbs -- whatever the case may be.

This is where the problem comes in. The bulbs are not the normal screw-in or pop-in type. Nor have I ever seen bulbs like them. It looks to me like you’d have to cut the connection, and replace the bulb and secure it with a drop of solder.

I think that I would still call Harbour Lights.

If it turns out to be the adapter, you are more than welcome to one of mine. I don't like wires hanging all over the place. So I don't use the adapters.

This particular piece, I've had on...a lot, as I mentioned. I hope this doesn't mean that the "life" of the new lighted "GLOWS" is a certain time. I've checked the others I have, and you're right, they weren't built around the bulb.

And thanks for the offer on the adaptors. I may very well take you up on that later.
