OK. Who has a tent card next to each lighthouse in their curio?

Maybe just a few tent cards next to the 'stranger' Harbour Lights?

OR...

You like your lighthouses to sleep under the stars -- no tent cards in sight.

It's 'star light' for my Harbour Lights...

Although right now they are all packed up in boxes in preparation for a move to a new house Monday.

The 185 lights that are displayed all have tent cards. Not so much for me as other folks that are curious.

Mine all have their appropriate tent cards snuggled next to them. I don't want the pieces to forget who they are. And they seem to sleep better at night with their tent cards close by. laugh

I don't have any tent cards- it's good for my memory to rattle off the names of all the lighthouses to someone who asks.

Unfortuantely that sometimes backfires on me. laugh

This "Coastie" thinks Tent Cards are for "sissies". My lighthouses stand on their own merits. Besides, it's too hard to dust the shelves with the tent cards in there and to top it off I don't know where half of them are.

Each piece has its tent card inside a clear plastic holder that is adhesed to the shelf the piece is displayed on. There are days when it takes all I have to remember my name, much less the name of a sculpture I might "see" twice a year (when I clean the cabinet), so I've been labeling the sculptures since day one. If that's "sissyish," so be it. :p :p :p

Sandy,
I was only kidding about the sissy part. I have my tent cards in with the COAs in plastic envelopes made for picture albums.

At work I deal with between 300 to 400 different part numbers of electronic circuit cards so I am use to memorizing large quantities. The lighthouses fall into the same scenario and if I can't remember the name I just look at the bottom. It helps to keep my mind active.

Well Sandy,

I guess I'm a member of the "sissies" Girls' Club. That's OK, because I don't remember all their names. Not the girls -- but the lighthouses. At my age I don't know many girls -- and I can't remember many ligthouses without a cue card.

Didn't take offense, Rich. "Sissy" can't hold a candle to some of the names I've been called over the years. Called my eldest a "Nancy boy" last week (he was moaning about his allergies) and we all cracked up--he's going to be 42 in a few weeks, works out daily, and rides a BIG Harley.

My pieces all have their tent cards neatly tucked in.

Re: Camping in the Curio? - 05/30/05 01:22 PM

I don't have tent cards for all my pieces. Some that I have bought from ebay came with out cards. I called Harbour Lights awhile back and they could not help me because of the amount of cards I needed. I am trying to come up with my own card that I can design and print on the computer.

Harbour Lights used to sell a complete set of Tent Cards some time back. I wonder if they did not sell and were discontinued or HL figured it was too much of a problem to keep the set current?

I'll check with the folks in El Cajon. Maybe they would be willing to release the set of tent cards as a PDF we could download and print. I know they don't offer the complete set anymore. (Not sure why, but Rich may have got it right.)

Anybody know when the first tent card appeared? (What piece? When released?)

Cathy,

I've had no problem getting tent cards from HL, but I've sent on my requests via email and each request contained only 5 to 8 requests. "Eating an elephant a spoonful at a time" comes to mind--maybe paring your list to bite size pieces would do the trick. Worth a try. . . .

I don't know when John, but the first cards were white paper, not the more familiar HL beige.

John,
That would be great if they could do that. I need quite a few tent cards and being able to print what I needed would be awesome.

Sandy,
Yeah, they said if I needed a few that would be okay...but I needed too many at once. If I remember correctly, they don't have any for some pieces I needed...How could they run out? Seems to me they could have more printed.

No tent cards displayed.

Re: Camping in the Curio? - 06/01/05 02:47 AM

No tent cards displayed here. To me it's kind of like sticking those plastic labels into the ground when you plant flowers. (I try to keep diagrams of what's currently in the gardens.)

If someone should ask the name of a lighthouse or plant and I can't recall it at the moment I could always just make up a name. If they already know it why would they ask??? wink

Re: Camping in the Curio? - 06/01/05 06:16 AM

Well I for one like the tent cards and have them displayed with each piece.

I too have had to ask HL to send me cards for pieces that I bought without them. No problems getting them here. But then as said before I only ordered 3 to 5 at a time.

I display the tent cards. I've also had no problem getting them from Harbour Lights.

Re: Camping in the Curio? - 06/13/05 04:13 PM

Mine sleep under the stars here, but they are surrounded by plenty of seashells and small pieces of driftwood collected from distant shores, porcelain and pewter sea critters, the Keepers & Friends, lobster buoys, a few Dept. 56 nautical accessories, and other small nautical accessories.

Re: Camping in the Curio? - 06/14/05 03:17 PM

No tent cards... my shelves are not big enough ... and the tent cards together with the boxes etc. are neatly stored in the loft.
Must be nice to have the room to display all the lights with the tent cards - but then again the argument about the dusting is a good one... wink
