Question about HL278 Battery Point

Question about HL278 Battery Point - 07/30/18 10:40 AM

For anyone who owns one, could you verify if the the lighter spot just to the right of the left-most window (the light colored spot between green window frame and shutter to the right) is part of the design or a chip? It's hard to tell in the picture, and I can't find another picture of the back of another one to compare it to.

Thanks!

Hi Lou
I checked eBay and found three other 278 Battery Point and they all look just like the picture you are showing. (the light colored spot between green window frame and shutter to the right)

Thank you, Daniel. I did not want to bid on one that was damaged, and it's good to know that this one isn't.

Also, I appreciate that you keep up with the regular eBay reports. Thanks!

Your Welcome.

There isn't a lot going on right know to report.
Hopefully around October and November HL will pick up.

In case anyone was wondering, I went ahead and got it for $16 + shipping on eBay.

The seller shipped it with only brown paper around the Harbour Lights box, so I held my breath opening it. It's in perfect condition, although the box isn't anymore. :)

You would be surprised at the way sellers think they know how to package items. I believe they think the little extra it costs to ship something securely will reduce their profit. What reduces profit is having a damaged item delivered and they not only lose the item but they lose the sale by having to return the money.

Lou, so glad that even with the lousy packing job that your new addition stayed intact. To me that is a compliment to the packaging designed by Harry to protect the pieces.

Speaking of packing, I won on EBay many years ago, three Harbour lights from Canada. Because of the seller location and the looks of the pieces I was sure that they were the original counter sample used at the Castle hill Factory.
At my dismay when I received them they were all in the same box set loose with just a newspaper wrapped around each of them. No packing between them to stop them from banging into each other. They broke into many pieces. The Seller worked at a pawn shop.

Very sad story about your lost pieces. You would like to think that people are not that clueless as to how to pack something. An inexperienced person might not pack it as you or I might, but you would like to think they might realize that they need to protect the pieces from banging into each other. Unfortunately, you can't force common sense onto someone.
