Harbour light deal of the decade.

Well it’s all over and for some of those that tirelessly watch ebay night and day have reaped its reward. I was making my regular ebay visit about 4 weeks ago when I spotted a Coquille #111 up for bid. So I opened it up and to my surprise it was not up for bid but was sitting there with a buy it now for $45. I couldn’t believe my eyes. I rapidly glanced through the page and saw it to be a number 21 with original brown box. I then quickly pushed the buy button and to my dismay I was too late, only to miss by seconds what I thought was the deal of the decade.

I then became curious and decided to check what else I missed by looking up the sellers past bids. That’s when I really saw the deal of the decade. A CH-1 with dark green tip and original box actually went on ebay for a buy it now at $35.

These deals did not stop here:

Sandy Hook #165 with brown castle studious box for buy it now for $35

Admiralty Head # 608 with white castle studios box when for buy it now for $50

West Quoddy # 594 with white castle studios box when for buy it now for $45

St George # 62 with brown castle studios box when for buy it now for $45

Great Captains Island # 14 with brown castle studios box when for buy it now for $45

It is all over now and I decided not to post this information until all the transactions were over with. Because this is such an interesting story I thought it was my duty to share it with everyone on the forum. If anyone involved in these transactions want to share their stories it is up to them. But for me I just telling the story with out telling who all was involved.

All the boxes and lights were in crisp brand new condition. My guess is that they all originally came from the back of some dealer’s closet that was long forgotten until now.

Daniel - I am a bit confused by your post. Did YOU get these items or MISS OUT on them????????

I missed all the good ones.
I had a chance to buy the West Quoddy but I all ready have one with the numbers in the 500's, so I turned it down. I only buy what I need not just because it is a good deal.

I didn't see them either, and I sometimes check a few times a day. I check often because I've found a few great deals.

If any one of you saw a CH-1 for $35 wouldn't you have purchased it and then no one else would see it. Do you really thing it would have been on ebay long enough for very many people to see it? The ebay counter for visitors for the ch-1 was 4 and the ebay counter for the Coquille read three, which one of those three was me.

The only way you would have seen any of these deals was:
1. You saw it first and won the bid
2. You saw it and just didn't bid.
3. You saw and bid just after someone else bided (Thats how I saw the coquille)
4. Or check all completed bids for the day. (Thats how I found all of the other HL deals that I listed above).

Okay I am ready to prove my topic with the hard evidence. It sounds like several didn't believe me. Well I have it all down on Internet or at least for the next 3 months. Here is the proof for the Harbour Light deal of the decade. This is why you should check ebay as much as possible.

CH-1 $35

Coquille River $45

#165 Sandy Hook for $35

OK Daniel, we believe you!
Shame we all missed that. frustrated

We now have eBay sending me emails when new listings come online! Maybe that is the way not to miss things. whistling

It was easy to miss them. Two of them sold within minutes of being listed.

He doesn't know about its true value
And I think we should leave it at that

Re: Harbour light deal of the decade. - 06/30/07 06:02 PM

Even if the seller didn't know what he/she had or what the piece is worth..... don't you think the "Buy it Now" was a dumb thing to offer
....from a sellers perspective.

Why can't I find a Portland Head #125 for sale with a crazy low "Buy it Know" price?
