Welcome 5lights - 04/27/06 02:02 PM

Welcome to the Forums. Let me be one of many to say hello to you. Please post and tell us about your interests in lighthouses and also include a little bit about yourself.

While you are looking over the Forums and becoming familiar with our different topics, I want to tell you about our HL Collector Forums Exclusive that is being made for our members. It is a replica of the Erie Land Light and will be available around April of 2006. The cost is $50.00 and a member may buy up to 2 of these exclusives. You can pay 50% down on each piece or you may pay the entire amount up front. If you pay the entire amount at one time you will also receive a "free" pin of the Erie Land Light. You can also choose to buy this pin if you pay the 50% down. The lighthouse will be a limited edition of only 500 pieces. If you are interested, go to the top of the Forums under LIGHTHOUSEKEEPERS where the Exclusive is listed or click on http://www.lighthouse-events.com/forums/ .

Re: Welcome 5lights - 04/27/06 03:38 PM

Thank You! I have been visiting this site for about 6 months-after being referred to it by Harbour Lights. It never occured to me until yesterday to register! Lots of interesting information and thoughts. I started lighthousing several years ago and have now dragged my husband into it. I have also started my grandchildren-they love it. We took my grandson with us on the Door County Lighthouse walk when he was 2-even the boat ride to Rock Island. Last year we took that one and another. They have grown to love lights as much as I do. They get excited when I receive a new Harbour Lights piece and have to check over every square inch of the piece! It's important to get the youth to understand the history and importance of the lights back then and now to preserve them for the future. I live in Wisconsin, my husband loves freighters-so we combine to the two passions. He has learned to appreciate the lights and what the keepers endured. I have 5 grandchildren and stay at home and provide daycare for 3 of them. I am Very disappointed that Harbour Lights did not do an event piece for the Door County Lighthouse walk as they have the past 2 years! Hopefully they will do one next year..after things have settled down. They had talked about doing Pottawatomie Light-which would be cool! This has turned out to be a short novel...so until next time.(lol) Glad to be on board!!! :p
