Welcome SillyPaGirl - 02/04/06 02:13 AM

Welcome to the Forums. Let me be one of many to say hello to you. Please post and tell us about your interests in lighthouses and also include a little bit about yourself.

While you are looking over the Forums and becoming familiar with our different topics, I want to tell you about our HL Collector Forums Exclusive that is being made for our members. It is a replica of the Erie Land Light and will be available around April of 2006. The cost is $50.00 and a member may buy up to 2 of these exclusives. You can pay 50% down on each piece or you may pay the entire amount up front. If you pay the entire amount at one time you will also receive a "free" pin of the Erie Land Light. You can also choose to buy this pin if you pay the 50% down. The lighthouse will be a limited edition of only 500 pieces. If you are interested, go to the top of the Forums under LIGHTHOUSEKEEPERS where the Exclusive is listed or click on http://www.lighthouse-events.com/forums/ .

Hello from Minnesota and thanks for the warm welcome. The weather here finally looks like it should. We finally have snow.
Sorry I haven't gotten back, but I am learning here.
Smith Point lighthouse has occupied much of my time and toughts as of late. Two weeks ago, I went to Philadelipia to the national archives and copied the original plans of the lighthouse. I will need these when I meet with the historic people who will oversee the restoration of the light. I then went down to Reedville, Va and purchased a boat to get everything out to the light. I am now ready to start. March 20th, we plan our first work party to the light. Many more will be planned from there.

Welcome aboard, Dave...

You have undertaken a responsibility many of us dream of, but do not have the resources, time or muscle-power to actually undertake.

We'll always welcome hearing about your plans and progress and perhaps somewhere down the road - given enough advance notice - some here would join you on a work-weekend.

May I suggest you create a blog to tell your story and progress on the purchase and restoration of your lighthouse?

Please do keep us posted, Dave. As John said, most of us can only dream of such an undertaking. We would love to hear the blow by blow progress on the restoration. You will be making a fantastic contribution to the preservation of history. Best wishes!
