The Membership Odometer HAS Rolled Over... - 07/30/02 06:02 AM

Couple of new members joined in each of the last couple of days and as of right now, we're a couple short of the 1,000 mark.

Here's my deal. For those who join up and post a message between #992 and #1042 (a total of 50), I'll have a drawing and one of these 50 will receive a limited edition lighthouse by Harbour Lights. Not sure which yet.

To clarify, membership numbers that are now assigned will not be in the range 992-1042. I will keep track of the registrations because I receive an email each time someone registers.

Remember, you must post - and tell us something about your interest in lighthouses and/or Harbour Lights in order to be included in the drawings.

Current members are discouraged from trying to create a new persona in order to enter the drawing. If we find you out now or later, Blind Tony will pay you a night-time visit. It won't be pleasant.

Only 2 more to register before we hit 1000!

Will bells ring and whistles blow!

(Just as long as my pc doesn't explode, having enough problems lately as is! eek )

#999 just registered.

Another forumite came up with a good suggestion which I am implementing now.

As previously mentioned, the next 45 new registered members + the last 5 who have registered will be entered in a drawing with the winner to receive a limited edition Harbour Lights.

Among those who are active members (have made at least one post between May 1, 2002 and July 30, 2002) and who make at least 10 posts in August 2002, will also be entered in a similar drawing.

And among those who have been inactive since May 1, 2002 and who make 10 posts or more during the month of August 2002, will also be entered in a drawing to receive a limited edition Harbour Lights.

Something for everyone - brand new, inactive members and active members.

Play fair. Make real posts. Remember Blind Tony & I know how to find you -- or at least locate your email box.

So, according to what I quoted from you, John, sometime next year, i.e. in 2003, we'll get a prize for posting to the CF? Wow what a deal!

Welcome Candlechick from the horse country of central Florida, Ocala FL. It's great to have you as our 1000th member. Krispie Kremes are on you Monday morning. Should I pick them up for you and charge them to your plastic?

Also, don't pick on John about his dates. He's in good company with BY and his dates right out of left field.

Hi Candlechick,

Welcome aboard this bucket from the Great Lakes state of Meeeeeeeeeechegan. Just a reminder, when you get 50 posts in the forums, you become a true WACKO or WACKette whatever the case might be. laugh I have been told that this is an honor that is slightly inferior to receiving the Purple Heart or did they say heartburn ..... confused confused

Good Morning! Wow, the 1000th Member -- awesome. That's a number even I can remember.

About me. I live in Alexandria, VA but grew up in Baltimore, MD. I have loved lighthouses all my life. My dad had a boat at Cape St. Claire (Magothy River) and we used to navigate off the Sandy Point Light and Baltimore Light all the time. I have visited the Outer Banks lights and Fenwick Island, as well. Hope to see many more.

I sell candles in Home Shows, which is great because it lets me be home with my 10 year old daughter (who collects Little Lights!). She is flying home from London as we speak. She's been visiting her grandparents in Greece. Be glad to get her back safely. The candle business is good because it's the holiday season already! (Hence the name "Candlechick".

My hubby works for the FAA. He is in Air Traffic. I have two cats.

What else is there to say??? Guess I'm buying donuts!

Welcome Cindy,

Congratulations on being number 1000. As far as your daughter goes, I think she has great taste for her age. Collecting lighthouses is a fun way to learn about some of oldest buildings in this great country.

Post often and feel free to ask questions. The group of people involved here are very knowledgeable about lighthouses.

John,

Since I managed to avoid the Krispy Kreme bill, do I qualify for the big drawing? (I was 997 or something like that.)

I see Jo has already figured out to to speed up the post-o-meter, heading towards those 50 posts to wackodom! Yes, your S.O. (the improved version of Mombo's I.O.??) can register under his own Forum name. The more we have, the better!

Congratulations Cindy. Things have sure changed over time as the last 500 members have registered. Back in '99 when I became the 500th, "donut man" was asked to provide food for all. Fortunately, virtual donuts met the requirement. Now lighthouse drawings welcome the new milestone members, although the donut cravings still come back for some. Things do change for the better on occasion. Welcome!

Welcome, Suzy. Glad you found our Forums and have decided to join in. You will find lots of great people from all over the country among our members. Lots of information about Harbour Lights and the real thing can be found in the various forums. Explore, learn and participate!

Are you a member of the Derby City Lights club? Several of those folks are forum participants. Next month our club (the Hoosier Lighthousing Club) will be back up at the Old Michigan City Lighthouse for our fall work day and bulb planting project. You're welcome to join us if you would like.

Suzy

Welcome to the forum. Glad you joined. Hope you enjoyed your tour of the lighthouse last Tuesday. It was a shortened tour so next time you think of coming back, be sure to let me know and I will give you guys the full blown treatment. Might even try to take you and Steve up to the lantern room.

Again welcome.
