Thank you Rich, Kory, Loon, DocsSweetie, BoBo, and Bob! It's nice to be a part of such a nice lighthouse "family." My love for lighthouse's (and HL) lead me to this site. I doubt I'll ever have the chance to visit most of the lighthouse's in which you all have, however, through your stories and pictures posted, I too can live within the moment.
Thank you all again, ~Angie

lol Shortcake. I'm from Biloxi. My parents reside in Hurley. I relocated to MD (after Katrina) and have yet to find my way back home. lol

Did you read that the Round Island Lighthouse is being moved inland, to Pascagoula?

Re: Welcome IIIAngieIII - 02/06/10 09:31 AM

Angie,

No I had not heard about Round Island. That is WONDERFUL NEWS!!! I had heard some years ago that they had salvaged most of the bricks from Round Island and were housing them somewhere in the Pascagoula area. And that it was a planed idea to rebuild it someday. But I had not heard anything more for some years now. Do you know who I could contact about that project? I would like to help if I could in any way... clean bricks or whatever. It's only 15 - 20 minuets from my house to Pascagoula.

So your Parents live in the big town of Hurley? I'll bet that they drive right by my house every time they go to Wal-Mart. LOL biglaugh I live at the intersection of Airport Blvd and Snow Rd. and just about everybody from the Hurley area come to Mobile to shop.

My daughter and her family live just North of Hurley in Agricola, MS, do you know where that is?

It's time to come back home to the Good Old South! LOL

Re: Welcome IIIAngieIII - 02/07/10 12:09 AM

Stephanie,

I'm very fimiliar with the area in which you reside. I'm shocked that the Winn Dixie has stayed afloat as long as it has. And you're right...... lol, everyone in Hurley travels to the Walmart on Schillinger's Road.
Agricola- Population 20? lol, My parents have many friends that live there. It was once a farming community however, over the past few years, it has really grown.

The Round Island Lighthouse Preservation Society (roundislandlighthouse.org) and the city of Pascagoula are in charge of the restoration of the Round Island lighthouse. I don't have an exact date but it will be at the foot of the Jackson County Veterans Memorial Bridge. Personally, I feel they should had put it at the beach park but, I guess they wanted it more inland. The R.I.L.P.S. hasn't updated its site in a while but, I'll keep you posted as I learn more.

Angie:

Welcome to the forum. I was reading thru your posts and I'm so glad that Winn-Dixie is still around. My friend's daughter lives in FL and the Winn-Dixie near her house was closed a couple of years ago.
