Spring Regional Painting

Spring Regional Painting - 03/28/02 06:27 PM

The original is on its way to NJ. Not sure what HL's has in mind for it, probably an opportunity drawing I would imagine. I would sure like to see a fellow wacko get their hands on this one. Would make a great display with the matching piece. If your headed to NJ, GOOD LUCK and someone take it home!!!

Your right, Digger, that will look real good on the wall of the Midwest Harbour Lights Museum right next to "The Oak Harbour"

3 more chances after this one. Summer, Fall and Winter. Since I can't be at all 4 in person, this way I guess I can be there in spirit! Speaking of spirit...Just wait till the Fall version, it's going to be a real "HOOT"!!!!

Sue and I should make all four Regionals this year so I had better clear off plenty of wall space for the other paintings, when Sue wins them... since I never win anything...

Sorry, Paul, but you are too late. Susan and I already have the painting up on our wall.

Digger,

Looks like you may have to make at least two of this one.

At least if both Paul and Dave are to be correct.

Dennis, I believe Dave may only have it "on loan". He is probably the one bringing it to the regional.

Steve, as usual, you have done another lovely painting! Those of us who can't make it to all the regionals really appreciate your sharing the painting here on the forum.

Re: Spring Regional Painting - 04/01/02 08:36 PM

Great painting Steve. Actually it's making it's way to New Jersey the long way....via Spencerport. At least we can say we had it in the house for part of a day.

Now, it's back on the road with the Hannums -- who I just left at Sodus Point Lighthouse. I came back home and they were on the way to Oswego & Selkirk...then it's on to dinner with Jim Johnson & Mombo.

The painting is doing it's share of "lighthousing"! It made it to Oswego, Selkirk and Stony Point. Tomorrow it's headed east again to Connecticut.

Had a nice dinner and visit tonight with the Hannums and Jim Johnson.

Steve, it seems as though every painting is more awesome than the last. You are a very gifted and blessed man. Wish I had a 10th of your talent. Keep 'em coming. And thanks for sharing your talents so generouslly.

Re: Spring Regional Painting - 04/08/02 06:25 AM

The really good news here is that the painting was auctioned by Bill. The proceeds were to go to Steve's "pet project". Paul and I chimed up with the fact that this would have to mean Old Michigan City. Well, the Michigan City Historical Society will be receiving a $750 donation from Judy Hall of Brewster, Mass. When Jusy was giving me her payment, she commented that as soon as she walked in the room and saw the painting, she had to have it!

FWIW, the painting visited / viewed a total of 40 lighthouses before arriving at the regional!

Thank you Digger for your excellent painting; Bill for working the bidders to raise $750 for lighthouse preservation; and, to the Halls for their generous bid.

Steve aka "Digger" is a perfect example of the caliber of people brought together by a general interest. His unselfishness and generosity is a credit to him, his family, and all those who gather in the name of lighthouse preservation.

God bless you, Steve! You've added a new perspective to raising funds for lighthouse preservation and have etched your name in history in our eyes, and in the eyes of those who will follow after.

Re: Spring Regional Painting - 04/08/02 11:23 PM

I figured the money raised would be going to preservation but I never imagined it would go to HLC's adopted light, That's GREAT!!!!

I still thinks it's homely, stands on Meadowlark Lane and belongs to Herman Munster (Just wait till the Fall version). I guess the ugly duckling does turn into a swan after all.

Thanks to everyone for the compliments. Thanks Dave for the delivery ( maybe I'll see you soon, I need a spare LP tank). Thanks to Ron and the Hall's for their generous bids. I now accept this oscar in the name of ............

I know I'm Late Bob, but I promise that Plum Island is next!!!!

Sue. The name didn't really ring a bell but now that I see her I also remember her from the reunion. Does anyone have an address or email so I can thank them?
