We arrived at the store about an hour before the official start time of 2:00pm. Bill was signing the pre-sold event pieces. We were fortunate to be second in line so got to talk to him for quite a while. He didn’t divulge any deep dark secrets, but you could sense his enthusiasm when he spoke about Eddystone. He did say the packing for Eddystone would be different. Only the lower portion of the light will be in Styrofoam. The upper portion of the light will be suspended. Also there will be an opening in the bottom of the Styrofoam, so the light can be signed while still in the box.
Bill signed about 24-25 of our lights. Actually it only took a few minutes. We had them in 4 boxes, inverted and wrapped in towels. It’s a lot faster then having to remove the lights from their boxes. This works fine with the older pieces. We were afraid to try it with the newer pieces, too many things to break.
Bill signed the top and bottom of the base for our Fresnel Lens. Used the regular Sharpie on the felt bottom, but signed the top in gold. It really looks great. Said he hasn’t received any requests to sign the “lens”.

Tom asked Bill to sign Lady Liberty with “Y2K”. Here’s a shot of Bill’s 1st “Y2K” signature…
