Indianapolis Regional - June 23, 2007

The Indianapolis IN Harbour Lights regional event will be held on Saturday, June 23rd at the Holiday Inn Southeast. Here’s the plan:

The regional itself will be held from 2 PM – 5 PM. Bill Younger is scheduled to attend, along with Tony Constantino.

There will be an on-site dealer offering not only the Racine Reef regional piece, but also the Detroit River signing event piece.

There will be the usual great prizes and at the conclusion of the event a Racine Reef gold piece will be awarded to one lucky attendee.

Something that will be new for this event will be a swap and sell of Harbour Lights items.

At 7 PM Saturday will be a buffet dinner for those who wish to participate. Probably some additional give-aways at the dinner. Price for the dinner will be $28 per person.

The Holiday Inn will be offering some very special rates for those who wish to stay overnight. For those from out of town, while there may not be any lighthouses in Indy, there is plenty of exciting things to do with your family. The Children’s Museum, the NCAA Hall of Champions, the Indy 500 race track are just a few of them.

The White River State Park downtown Indianapolis is amazing in all that it offers, World Class Zoo, Imax Theater, Indiana State Museum, the finest Indian Art and Artifacts Museum in the world - the Eiteljorg Museum, NCAA Headquarters/Museum, Canal Waterway Area, Victory Field considered the finest AAA Baseball Park in America and a downtown shopping mall (with a Colts Store) all within a few blocks of each other..

We are planning on attending. We are hoping a lot of fellow wackos attend also. We could make this a summer Wacko gathering if we can get enough Wackos to attend. Since this is a summer without a big lighthouse event elsewhere....come on over, down, up or whatever fits......INDY is calling!!!!!!

Hotel reservation information has been sent to those who have indicated in interest. Good initial response, I hope that we do see a good crowd for this gathering.

I already made reservations. Won't be staying the the Holiday Inn, (we prefer Hampton Inn's) but we'll be and the days (and nights) events. We're going to make a long weekend out of it and head down to Louisville to see their baseball team, the Louisville Bats play on that Sunday for my birthday.

Seeing HLC members at our Spring Planting at the OMC lighthouse reminded me that the Indianapolis Regional isn't far away... Be sure and contact Dave if you are planning on coming to the event and or dinner... Plan on spending the weekend as there is lots to do and see in Indy, home of the World Champions Colts!!

I was checking out things to do in Indy on Friday night and found an IMAX theatre showing SpiderMan. I wonder what Spidey looks like on a screen that size?

I was also wondering if the Indy 500 track had any races or time trials that weekend? I can't seem to find the correct link to their race schedule.

Judy, Spiderman III will still be showing then, I called the theater..

There won't be any running at the track that weekend but if you stop by the Museum at the track they offer tour rides around the track in their tour buses.. If you are into cars not just race cars the Museum at the track is one of the best!!

Bringing back to the top for Derith, who is coming through downtown Indy this weekend!!

John and I will be there also. We will be going on the New York lighthousing trip with Dave and will be back in Indiana for a few weeks. We will be on our way back here to florida and will be able to catch the regional.

Gas price update for anyone heading to Indy for the Regional this weekend.. I filled up my car this morning at $2.75 a gallon.. It has been around that price for a couple of weeks..

Well Bill's here and can't wait for the Regional to start... I picked up Bill at the airport last night and dropped him off at the hotel..

I had picked up Sue from my son's home Wednesday night and was forced to bring Chloe along with her to our home for a few days including the Regional, so Chloe went with us to pick up Bill last night.. She gave him a big Hoosier Lighthousing welcoming hug to Indy..

I am sorry to report that the price of gas went back up, maybe it will drop back down before the weekend.. $2.95 per gallon last night..

Yep as Dave posted there are three stations near the hotel that are still $2.75, hopefully they stay at that price tomorrow for everyone..

$2.75 sounds good to me..it's $3.08 here!
