Digit, I tried to send you an email but it was returned. I just wanted to let you know how sorry I was to hear of your loss and tell you that I am thinking of you.

My deepest sympathy goes out to you, your family and your friends. It took me a while to respond after reading the post, I just didn't know what to say to someone who has went through such a tragedy. Just remember if you or anyone ever needs to just talk to someone I'm always just an email or phone call away!

Digit... I think Digger conveys my very thoughts as well. On top of that, I'm not that far from you. If you would like, I can drive down that way, we can have lunch, and just talk. E-mail me and let me know!

Digitalman,

I know that nothing we say can undo your loss or your pain. I was stunned by the posting and had to reread it a couple of times before it all sunk in. I am truly sorry for you. I pray that the Lord gives you the strength and peace you need.

I too echo Digger's thoughts. I feel that anything I write is totally inadequate in expressing how Sue and I feel. Our prayers are with you.

I'm really sorry to here about your tragedy, Digit. I can't imagine the pain you are going through right now. Possessions can be replaced, but to lose a loved one so early in life is such an outright shame. You know you have alot of long distance friends here, if you need anything.

When I was 7, I burned one of my legs and both hands very badly from a friek accident with sparklers. Many people think that sparklers are no big deal, but I was in the hospital for 5 1/2 weeks and had to have skin grafs and a few minor operations. I think it affected me psychologically even more, and still remember to this day all the details quite clearly. I soon became "hooked" on the need to have a fan aimed at me at night, or I would get too hot and couldn't sleep. A strange reaction, I guess, but I still sleep with a fan on 30 years later, even with air conditioning.

We also had a large fire a few years ago in one of the 48-unit apartments buildings I designed in '88 (I did not live in them, though). I had to make a run through the units right after the fire to look for any structural damage that may have occured for the owner. It was the first time I had been through a building like that, and the scene was something that I won't soon forget. I couldn't imagine that level of destruction happening to myself or my family. As a fireman, Todd is probably quite used to the scenes by now, but it was very shocking to me. I had never really worried that much about fire safety, even after my childhood burn, but I soon became quite paranoid about them ever since walking through there. I now always try and point out egressable window locations, etc. to all my clients, and make sure they understand the good and bad points about the design in case of one.

Not much I can say, but just hang in there Digit and be strong in faith. It's going to be difficult, but you'll pull through it.

I'm so sorry to hear of your loss, Digit. I keep trying to say to myself that there is something that I can say to soften the pain that you must be feeling, but I can't. I just want you to know that my prayers are with you & the family.

Digitalman - You have been and will continue to be in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

I would like to share the sentiment on a card that was sent to me following the death of my mother in June. It was written by E. Brenneman.

Her Journey's Just Begun

Don't think of her
as gone away-
her journey's just begun,
life holds so many facets-
this earth is only one...

Just think of her as resting
from the sorrow and the tears
in a place of warmth and comfort
where there are no days and years.

Think how she must be wishing
that we could know today
how nothing but our sadness
can really pass away.

And think of her as living
in the hearts of those she touched...
for nothing loved is ever lost-
and she was loved so much.

He who follows me shall not
walk in darkness,
but shall have the
Light of Life. John 8:12

May your remaining lighthouse help light the way and help guide you through life.

Re: Our sympathys to Digitalman - 08/21/00 03:40 AM

I would like to thank everyone here on the forum for extending their warmest thoughts and prayers to Mr. Slice and myself. You have all certainly shown me that people still truly care for one another in this sometimes cruel world.

I would also like to thank those people involved with planning the memorial for Carmen, she would be honored that you are doing this for her.

You are a great group of people and I am glad to at least virtually know you.
