39 coming up

39 coming up - 10/10/99 09:37 AM

On Wednesday, October 13, I will be 39 and that is no lie!

By the way, does anyone out there know what happened on October 13, 1960, the day that I was born? No prize for the first correct answer, just the personal satisfaction of knowing your trivia well!

Sure do and I doubt that any one who was watching will ever forget it.. Pittsburgh Pirate's Bill Mazeroski's bottom of the 9th lead off Home Run that beat the NY Yankees 10-9 in game 7 of the World Series. I was only 9 years old then, back in the days when baseball was baseball.

Enjoy the last year being a 30 something, before you know it you'll be in your forties. Now that I am 41 I have decided that these are the best years. Happy Birthday to another Libra

Re: 39 coming up - 10/11/99 06:14 AM

congrats to TheLightkeeper for knowing the answer to my trivia question. My dad always tells me how I kept him running that day. There were no televisions in the father's waiting room (boy, does that date me!) and the only TV was at the other end of the hospital. So all day long, dad went back and forth between seeing my mom and then back to baseball- and then I wasn't even born until 11:30 that night! I always tell everyone that I was born with baseball in my blood because of being born on the last day of the 1960 World Series! My dad and I shared MANY great St. Louis Cardinal games over the years. We even got to be there when Lou Brock broke the record for the most stolen bases in a season way back in 1974- what a thrilling game to be at!
Thanks to all for the birthday wishes- it makes my day to have so many friends that I do not even know!

Happy Birthday Chris! I hope that you managed to see Lou Brock's new statue dedicated at Busch Stadium this year. He is one of the best baseball players I've ever seen.

Hope we get to meet this week when Bill is here for the signings at Emily's and Jansen's.

Hope that you receive lots of new lighthouses for your special day.

Happy Birthday, Chris! 39 is a milestone often repeated by many who attain that age. Many seem to get the "Jack Benny Syndrome."

Happy Birthday Chris! After this year stop counting (at least out loud). Have a great day!

Happy Birthday, and many more. You may not remember that great comedian Jack Benny, but one of his running jokes was that he stopped counting his birthdays at 39. You can do the same and never be older than 39. Again, many happy returns of the day.
