You know, according to my family researc, Princess Di, and thus William and Harry, and I are very distant cousins thru the Spencer family (this includes Winston Churchill). Therefore, I really didn't expect an invitation to the wedding but it would have been nice. They never send Christmas cards either. frown wink

If you go on the Adam and Eve theory.... Aren't we all distant cousins? .... I didn't get an invite either.

Re: Charles and Camilla - 04/09/05 06:56 PM

Actually, talking about Windsor lineage, Charles and Camilla are actually distantly related - something like her great-grandmother was his great-great-grandfather's mistress. Gotta love that Royal Family. wink

I got a kick out of the hats. I still think that Camilla had wheat on her head. Is this because she is "back to nature"? On Fox News, who have been joking about the hat all day, have informed us that the hat was product placement for Metamucil.

Her daughter must have been in a hat frenzy, and dashed about the yard with twine, tying sticks together to make a headpiece. I think she even included a bird's nest as the centrepiece.

And, even with all the "modified tradition" that this wedding entailed, I find it very funny to see the entire Royal Family shoved into two shuttle buses that it seems they rented from the airport - complete with telephone number on the back.

Although an interesting side note, does not make them related

Caught a part of some show yesterday where they were interviewing some fashion person. She stated the hat was being made by "THE" best milner out there. From the description, apparently the hat is "out there". May have to find a picture for a good laugh.

Chuck should abdicate the throne when his turn finally comes. Somehow, being King of England should entail more than hooking up with a person such as he has done. But then who is next in line - is it the dimwit kid who dressed up like Hitler? Surely appears that common sense and basic intelligence in the family ended it's run with the Queen........

Mark - You're right. My memory thought that something had....come out of that. We'll leave it at that.

Dave - Check out this photo gallery - photo 5 is her daughter, and photo 6 is her. Photo 1 shows the Royal Family's luxury transport.

After looking at the 7 photo's, I think I also have every one of those hats!

The bimbo's hat kind of reminds me of something you would see Steve Martin wear - looks like it has an arrow going thru it. Her son's girlfriend appears to be dangerously close to showing more than she should in that first picture.

Mark, I remember seeing you in a hat similar to the one her daughter is wearing. Isn't it part of the ceremonial get up for early morning affairs at the FSB?

A couple of those hats look like they might have been assembled by birds.

Her hat in photo #4 looks like a white foamcore scale model of 5 stealth bombers just finishing a bombing run over Iraq, and scattering away from the explosion! Or maybe the same with Jedi fighters bombing a BattleCruiser or something.

#6 looks like that infamous scene from 'There's Something About Mary'. LOL

Yes Dave your memory is correct, It is the FSB dawn flag raising ceremony each morning Tim and I get our dress uniforms (and hats) on, and we fire the cannon in the yard across the lake and hoist the stars and stripes.

And the row of dogs howl in the background as their mother passes by. Can't quite make out the breed but resembles a mix between a poodle and a bulldog!!

Charley blew his chance to have a QUEEN and had to settle for the COURT JESTER!!

Digger,

You hit the nail on the head with that comment. I totally agree. And she's ugly as Hell.

Re: Charles and Camilla - 04/11/05 03:42 AM

You guys are just so mean! I thought all the hats were great except Princess Anne's and the Prime Minister's wife. They looked pretty frumpy compared to most of the others. My favorite was one that had something that looked like a dish on the side of the woman's head connected to some sort of wires, sticks, antenna??? Maybe she was beaming up the service to friends and family???

I don't think Camilla's all that bad looking, considering the family she just married into....

The CNN comentators were really funny, especially their "man on the street". Did anyone see the streaker? IMO Charles and Camilla seemed kind of bored with the church service. Probably the Civil Ceremony would have been fine with them.

As far as the relationship goes, I think it's great that these two are finally able to enjoy their lives together. The marriage to Diana was a mistake from the beginning with tragic consequences. Having to marry someone "suitable" rather than someone you love seldom works out no matter who you are.

Yeah, congrats  on finally making a 30 year extra-marital affair, legal.... this may be the biggest non-event I can't ( or is that won't) recall. eek laugh

Next in line to the throne is William. I believe it was Harry the younger that wore the Hilter getup. In extremely poor taste yes, but let's remember how many other young men his age have pulled poor taste pranks. He's a kid, and kids will be kids, regardless of whether their blood is blue or red.

I liked both of Camilla's chapeaus (did I spell that correctly??). They were too "fancy" to just be called hats! But I had to laugh when I read Rod's reference to "Something about Mary" laugh

However some of the other women in attendance wore really ugly hats. That thing that looked like sticks tied together...good grief.

Princess Anne's daugher's hat looked like she should be wearing a trench coat and "spy-type" dark glasses.

Re: Charles and Camilla - 04/11/05 12:06 PM

I miss Princess Diana. She was a young lady with a lot of class. She made that part of the Royal Family look good.

As far as Charles and Camilla goes, if they want to be together, good for them. I notice Charles is very apprehensive about any physical contact with Camilla when they are being photographed in public. He is always putting one hand in his jacket pocket and fiddling with his tie or whatever.

Does anyone else think they change their clothes in separate rooms and that Charles might call her "mommie" in private? How many bottles of Pepto Bismo do you think the Queen gulps down each day worrying about her little Charlie?

 Bob

I wonder if Charlie had a mistress standing in the sidelines at this wedding also? The royal scandals, they are so much fun!
