Memorial Day- Don't Forget & What's Up for You - 05/23/08 04:50 PM

It's the unofficial start of Summer this weekend it's Memorial Day.

First- thanks to all those who made and continue to make each Memorial Day (and every day for that matter) possible in a free society.

Don't forget to remember them this weekend- and every weekend.

Second- what's everybody doing this weekend?

I'm skipping the BBQ's and doing a musical tour of NJ.

Saturday- off to Newark, NJ for the Eagles (the real ones this time). We decided to just stay overnight at the Hilton 2 blocks from the Prudential Center.

Sunday- off to Atlantic City for a double header-

Andre Rieu & Orchestra (classical violinist) at 6 PM in Boardwalk Hall followed by Kenny loggins at Bally's at 9 PM. Am I crazy?

We'll throw a small amount of money away at some casino in the wild hopes of winning big.

Monday maybe a walk on the beach and a visit to Absecon LH and then home .

Now it's your turn.

We've got a BBQ tonight at a friend's house, and she's coming over to ours with some people on Sunday. Monday, I'll photograph the annual parade. (aka, the Little League and Vet lineup.) Tuesday, I'm taking my extra day off and going to NYC with my mom to work and make some money.

Busy week...Thursday is prom, but my best friend and I are bypassing the soriee in the Sheraton twenty miles away for a nice dinner in NYC. The next day, we have "Senior Cut Day."

Am I going down the Jersey Shore like every other kid to get hammered? Nope!

Can you say...LIGHTHOUSING ON CAPE COD/MARTHA'S VINEYARD/NANTUCKET? vhappy

It's going to be a stay at home weekend. Do some yardwork and outside chores. Cook some burgers and hotdogs on the grill. Enjoy a few beers(each day).

Many Thanks to all those who served our country both military & civilian. We will surely remember them this weekend. cheers

My flag is already properly displayed. It will be up all weekend and lighted at night. We went to pay homage to the Indians at Foxwoods yesterday. Got scalped as usual, but that's the price of entertainment. "It's Only Money" will be launched on June 9, so Lorna & I will be doing some prep work on it this weekend. I also need to get my garden going. I'm late this year. The weather has not been conducive to planting a garden yet, but the warm weather should arrive now. We are headed down to my marina this afternoon to go out on a shakedown cruise with our friends. We'll go out to dinner tonight. We'll probably do more boat work and yard work tomorrow. We're watching two of the grand kids tomorrow night so favorite son and our daughter-in-law came go out for their anniversary. On Monday we may have a small cookout for the family after more yard work and boat work. As you can see, we have a lot to do this weekend.

As the hordes of traffic begin to descend upon us on Cape Cod this weekend, after finishing up some work early today, Karen & I will be avoiding the traffic and taking our granddaughter Maddy off the "island" this afternoon and heading north to the mountains of New Hampshire for the remainder of the weekend. Maddy is at the perfect age to enjoy Santa's Village, and has been spending time online with Karen checking out Santa's website and getting excited about the trip.
On Monday, if the weather is as nice as it's supposed to be, we'll take the tramway to the top of Cannon Mountain and spend some time on the trails. It is here that I do my best pondering, sitting on the edge of the mountain and looking down at the world. I will most assuredly stop at that moment and give thanks to all who made this life possible, as they are NEVER far from my thoughts and actions.
Enjoy the weekend eveeryone, and most of all, be safe!
