Crash of Alaska Airlines Flight 261 January 31, 2000 - 02/01/00 07:33 AM

Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the passengers and crew of those who were aboard the Alaska Airlines plane which crashed off of Point Mugu, California today.

I am impressed with how Alaska Airlines has mustered its resources to deal with this situation.

Their web site at www.AlaskaAirlines.com provides information about the company and aircraft and a letter from the company president as well as information for the working press are already posted.

And while at it, let us not forget the folks in the plane that went down off the Ivory Coast a day earlier.

I feel so sorry for the families and friens of those who lost their lives.

I feel compelled to say, God Bless the men and women of the Coast Guard. How they perform the search and rescue/recovery is beyond my comprehension. They are very special people. And also the Navy for what will eventually become a salvage effort.

The news reported that 30 of the 85 passengers were Alaska Airlines employees.
Indeed our prayers go out to the families and to the family of Alaska Airlines, From their CEO on down. Also to all those working to save lives and recover the lost.
May God be with thm all!
