The lighthouse birthday angel has whispered in my ear that next Sunday, June 4th is your birthday.

I'd like to take this opportunity to wish you a very Happy Birthday and won't mention your age as "we girls" tend to get a bit sensitive sometimes!

Happy Birthday, Connie. I met you last
October when I brought our club, the New
England Lighthouse Lovers, to see you.
They still talk about the wonderful slide
lecture you gave us on your experiences
at the various lighthouses as a keeper's
wife. I will always remember your wise
saying: "Always look up, never look
down". Your husband, Elson, advised you
to do this, as you fearfully climbed a
steep ladder up to a lighthouse; but that
admonition has turned into your
philosophy of life, one worth passing on
to us all.

I extend happy birthday greetings to you
as an honorary member of our club NELL,
on behalf also of all our members. I
will be coming to visit you this fall,
your book in hand (an advance Christmas
present from my brother) so that you can
autograph it for me; and will look
forward to another nice chat with you.

All lighthouse enthusiasts have much to
thank you for, in your tireless efforts
to make the public aware of the need to
save our maritime heritage.
