Anchor Bay Ships of the future?

Has anyone heard about any new Anchor Bay Ships that may be coming soon?
What do you think about a suggestion of a WWII PT boat??????

I second that motion Sean. Sounds like a great idea! Got a retired WWII Navy vet. here who repaired those Higgins boats in Norfolk. Got a lot of great stories!

That sounds like a great idea. maybe they would do my old boat,503-3 boat 3 from LST 503.I would be sure to grab one of them.I have a plastic model of it complete with the coxswain with the tattoo on his arm.don't forget to put the two fifties on the gun rings on the stern .Bill O'Brien oseabee.

You learn something everyday! Thanks for the web site on Douglas Munro, someone should teach in our schools about real heros like him. I think that we need to send this idea to someone at Harbour Lights. My vote is for the Higgins Boat and Douglas. Great idea!

Of course I'd love to see the "Mackinaw" but the idea of a P.T. sounds great as well!! My Dad served on a P.T. for the first half of WWII, and, before he died he shared alot of memories with me about his tour in the south Pacific.
Both the "Mackinaw" and anyone of the "Higgins" models would be a heck of an addition to my AB collection..... As a long-standing member of "P.T. Boats, Inc." I'm sure there would be a large number of members who would love to purchase one!

I would like to see the most famous PT Boat done by HL, PT-109. I would include JFK in the boat as well.

I'd love to see HL do the Mackinaw, too.

Another thought would be that of a Coast Guard 180' buoy tender. They could have it with it's boom over the side picking up a lighted buoy from the water, and the ship listing to the port side. Just a thought.

Tim I like the idea of a 180' buoy tender. They were also used to service lightships as well as aids to navigation.

I agree with Tim and Hal, the 180' Buoy Tender would be a great choice for another AB. I would also like to see a "RELIEF" Lightship modeled. Having had the privilage of serving on both of these type ships.

LOL Rich, I understand what you are saying. Actually, when she is boomed all the way out and has snatched the buoy, then there is a bit more of a list to her. Once they grab the buoy, they pull it against the hull of the ship to keep it stable and to allow the crew to place a tag line on it.

Our vote is for the Mackinaw. Being from Michigan we think this ship symbolizes a great part of our history in late fall and winter storms for the shipping industry.

Here is a picture of the "Mac" with a slightly different paint job. I also have newspaper story from a West Michigan newspaper dated 2-14-00, thats says that the current budget proposal would have a new icebreaker built by 2005 to replace the Mackinaw in 2006. I don't know if it got any further than that.

While were on the subject of Coast Guard boats, Here is a USCGC boat I learned of while visiting Copper Harbor lighthouse on lake Superior this past summer. I am not suggesting HL should make this, but just found it an interesting story
