Point Aux Barques - 03/28/07 09:02 PM

The April HL Musings announces:

" To celebrate the 150th Anniversary of Point Aux
Barques, MI Harbour Lights has created a very special Little Light of Mine” for the Point Aux Barques Lighthouse Society. This numbered Limited
Edition of 300 is a finely detailed Replica..."

and then talks of a "backstamp"

Is this the first time a LL has been numbered and called a Limited Edition? And secondly, what is a backstamp?

Re: Point Aux Barques - 03/28/07 09:16 PM

Yes. First widely-available "limited edition" version of a LL size piece. There were unnumbered LL versions of Seven Foot Knoll for 2001 Reunion and Round Island at the 2005 Reunion

Probably not the last.

A "backstamp" is the copy/text/icons on the bottom of the piece. This one will have a different bottom printed design than Little Lights.

Next question: will this become a "regular" Little Light? Not sure. Depends on interest among LL dealers.

The preservation group associated with Pointe aux Barques is buying the 300 pieces upfront. They will be the only source for this limited, numbered version with the special imprint.

Backstamp is used a lot in Fine China
and Stamps.. After talking to Tony, he said these first 300 will be hand numbered for the Point Aux Barques Lighthouse Society..

Business is very brisk at the Point Aux Barques Lighthouse Society, as I had to hold for a few moments while someone else's order was taken. Spoke with a very nice lady, said the piece will be available mid April @ $27 each that includes shipping costs. She asked for a check to be mailed, no credit cards.

A worthy cause and I receive #68 & #69 of a limited edition piece of 300. smile This edition puts me in mind of the Bailey's Harbor done for the Door County Walk several years ago.

You were lucky to get through. Each time I tried the number I got an answering machine that said it was the home of ..... So I did not leave a message. Maybe I will try again tomorrow.

Re: Point Aux Barques - 03/28/07 11:44 PM

Hiliari,

The lady said something about her and her husband having to leave shortly for a physical therapy appointment.

She said the phone had been "ringing off the hook". I think I would try leaving a message for her to call you back. Couldn't hurt.

Good Luck!

Re: Point Aux Barques - 03/29/07 01:29 AM

I did leave a message and she did call back. I now have #62 and #63 reserved. She said there were four messages on the answering machine for orders when she had returned.

I imagine #1-50 are reserved for members of the Pointe aux Barques Lighthouse Society.

I would like to order one but do not have the phone number. I can not get the April Muzing to come up.

Phone Number to order is 989-428-3035.

Thanks for the number I am on hold as I type this.

Re: Point Aux Barques - 03/29/07 02:52 AM

Up to 96-97 as of 8:41 PM EDST.

Carolyn is thrilled and said the phone hasn't stopped ringing since 3:00 PM.

Let's round it off to $2,700 gross to the PABLS in about 6 hours. Perhaps half that will go to help preserve this great Lake Huron Lighthouse. WIN-WIN-WIN. Win for PABLS, Win for Harbour Lights -- and a Win for Collector Forums members (and other HL Collectors) too!

Look for more opportunities like this.

Will there be any left of the locals? Can The Pointe Aux Barques Lighthouse Society order more than 300 from Harbour Lights? Tony may pop in here in with the answers...

Re: Point Aux Barques - 03/29/07 03:07 AM

What a wonderful site this is!!! Thanks John and Paul for quick answers to my original questions when I started this topic.

And once again the "Connected WACKO Collectors" get an inside line on new releases. laugh

I finally got thru to Carol -- what a wonderful and enthusiatic Lady. As John said she is thrilled - must not have realized what WACKO is all about.

I secured a #98 (my old autoship) and a #150. vhappy I can't believe that someone did not beat me to the anniversary number.

#150 - great number for the 150 year old Pointe Aux Barques, Roger.

And for our Overseas friend, Lighthouse Duo, she did say she got your email order!

Re: Point Aux Barques - 03/29/07 03:27 AM

Wow, I gotta get my call in tomorrow! I like to collect all the inexpensive-but-small editions, so I can't miss out.

Time seems to be running out, too! Maybe if I go to visit my favourite teacher at lunch tomorrow, she'll let me sit in the corner and order one. Get ahead and all.

A new border for Wacko - risking consequence for a Harbour Light? But I need a low number!

Re: Point Aux Barques - 03/29/07 04:34 AM

I spoke to Carol several times and told her she had been sent an e-mail from England. She is thrilled by the response and delighted that we WACKOS are so enthusiastic about the piece!
Can't wait to get mine #75 & #100.
Did not think to ask for #150. Way to go Roger.

Re: Point Aux Barques - 03/29/07 04:35 AM

You all have to remember that the Musings were sent to anyone on the HL distribution email list. The advantage from following this thread is that you have learned to check back with the folks even when you got a rather different phone answering machine message.

If these are going to be hand numbered, will they just be 1 - 300 or 1/300 to 300/300? I would think once the 300 with the special back stamp are gone they are gone. No second run.

Also remember that the Baileys Range set was essentially a Little Light as a numbered special edition, including an assigned HL number. I am presuming the PaB piece will have some form of LL number assigned or will it get an HL number?

If they do order more, it better not be the special backstamp"
I was under the impression that there was going to only be 300. If HL allows them more of the special backstamp, the next time HL comes out with another special LLOM that is supposedly limited to 300 not so many collectors will buy it.

Re: Point Aux Barques - 03/29/07 06:21 AM

I don't think you will see HL come out with more than 300 numbered lights, especially if they are numbered as xxx/300. I would also be willing to bet that HL is having only 300 and maybe a few spares brought in at this point. You may well see a standard LL version released, but I would bet it won't be until at least early 2008.

Re: Point Aux Barques - 03/29/07 06:21 PM

Just got my order through! I tried first in gym class (I had a spare moment alone where I could duck away), but I tried three times and no reply. Tried again just now sitting in the corner of a semi-empty classroom, and #110 is now mine!

I'm guessing that any other numbers were "special requests," but still, about 1/3 seem to be sold (dependent on whether or not the first XX were saved). All in just ~24 hours...get your order in if you want one!

And if they release this as a regular LLOM, it might be interesting if that one were painted/molded differently...so they could still have a Point Aux Barques to sell, but while keeping the 300 edition "rare."

Re: Point Aux Barques - 03/29/07 07:19 PM

Good for you, Greg. Bad for you doing it while in school! And just HOW are you posting this during school hours?? STUDY, young man, Study.

Tony says the numbering on the bottom will be handwritten including the production count which IS limited to 300 pieces. So expect it to be "1/300, 2/300" etc.

Factory is producing 500 total castings and the remaining 200 will have the usual LL bottom printing but will NOT be available for LL dealers to order until 2008. Nice touch.

Re: Point Aux Barques - 03/29/07 08:27 PM

Per Tony Constantino:

For the record

When a Collectible announces a numbered Limited Edition of 300 with a special “back stamp” or production mark -ONLY 300 pieces are made with that specification.

Therefore there are ONLY 300 Pointe Aux Barques LLOM Replicas with the sesquicentennial “back stamp” and each Replica will be hand numbered and as with our full size Limited Editions the box will be numbered.

In January 2008, Pointe Aux Barques will be added to the LLOM Collection with the basic LLOM “back –stamp”.

Hey, it was lunchtime on the last day before break. What else was I going to do? laugh

And I'm probably the heaviest user of the school's WiFi network with my laptop tied to my hip all day.

And now back to our regularly scheduled ACT practise...

We emailed them in the end, because I just could not understand what was said on the answer phone.

But they have reserved one for us (not sure about the #). All we need to do now is clear up which PayPal account to use ...

Looking forward to this special LLOM ... hope there will be more such special ones!!!!!

Rich,

The number is 1-989-428-3035. It is the number of the couple selling the piece. No one can understand the message. Just leave your name and telephone number and they will get back to you.

Did anyone notice in the latest Legacy that the PAB is numbered LL283?

So, is this for the "limited edition" version (300 edition) or the regular LLOM edition to be released in January 2008?

Inquiring minds would like to know.....

Re: Point Aux Barques - 04/14/07 12:26 AM

Just a simple question here.

How do you have a numbered limited edition and and un-numbered open edition of the SAME piece?
Is there a bit of a contradiction here? Another screw-up of the "new" Harbour Lights Company.
This with the absurd release of "Barking Rocks" should get ones attention as to the direction Harbour Lights is headed.
Buyer Be Ware!!!

A quick question for anybody out there that ordered the Point Aux Barques little light. Have you received yours yet? It was my understanding they would be available mid april. Please shed some light on this.

Nothing has arrived thus far. My mailbox has been so empty -- except for bills -- for so long that it's started growing cobwebs. tired

Nothing has arrived in Colorado, at least not Franktown. Of course, that mule train that our post office uses is somewhat slower. Rich, I had the same understanding about mid-April as the availability date.

Re: Point Aux Barques - 05/01/07 04:05 PM

Tony reports the Pointe Aux Barques shipment is on a container that is due in to West Kennebunk this week. The Pointe Aux Barques Lighthouse Society should be receiving their pieces next week.

Carolyn said today that those who have ordered should expect their orders to arrive by May 15.

She has less than 100 left at this time. They have NOT done any local promotion of the replica -- but will be doing it very soon. If you haven't ordered, now's the time: 989-428-3035. Spread the word.

The lighthouse is opening for the season today.

Re: Point Aux Barques - 05/01/07 06:05 PM

Carolyn told me she expected to receive them yesterday or today.
Well ... we hope they actually ARE on that container! Can't wait to see ours!
