2008 Product Releases - 10/18/07 08:12 PM

Good Thursday Afternoon!

If you think the last four Releases are
spectacular .... I have seen the entire January 2008 Release and "Harry has out done Harry"!

Harbour Lights... the Grand Tour!

AJC

The attention to detail is incredible!

Re: 2008 Product Releases - 10/19/07 04:41 PM

Bass Harbor and Toledo Harbor GLOWs arrived at dealers in the Northeast on Monday. Bass Harbor is, in our opinion, the best GLOW to date, by far!

Even though Nubble Light has already been done three times as a large piece, we would love to see a revised GLOW (HL410r), with the elevation factor and flashing red light, like Bass Harbor. The present Nubble GLOW looks flat and 2-dimensional compared to what you see when you visit the lighthouse (Ann & I were there on Tuesday for approx. the 50th time; never gets old.) We know the light-up factor is getting expensive to make, but it does make the GLOWS sell MUCH better.

Re: 2008 Product Releases - 10/20/07 02:05 AM

Tony, When might we hear what the January 2008 releases are?

Jim, There are many HL LE's, mostly from 1991 to 1994, that I'd love to see a GLOW version released for. I also would love to also see a revised Sandy Hook GLOW. A lot larger then the original.

As for them lighting up, I prefer then didn't. But if that's how HL is going to make them, I just won't put batteries in them or plug them in. laugh

I was thinking about the "Grand Tour". Could it be a new release lineup including lights from every region of the USA?

Something French, as in Tour de France?

It's a stretch but....

Rubbing alcohol? or the good stuff? wink

Sounds like an interesting idea....the "Grand Tour"....when should we hear the news?

Re: 2008 Product Releases - 11/09/07 06:12 PM

Maybe HL will be starting to organize releases by region?

Example: Every year they will release one lighthouse from Lake Erie, one from Lake Superior, one from the Northeast, one from Gulf coast, one from the Mid-Atlantic, etc.

This way everybody would be happy every year. cool

Every year would be a Grand Tour of coastal states via lighthouses.

Re: 2008 Product Releases - 12/06/07 06:53 PM

Well is Tony going to give us more of a hint, than a Grand, Harbour Lights Tour? Maybe, it's a Hl's combination of Anchor Bay, LL's, and a Limited Edition? I guess we'll just have to wait and see. Merry Christmas to one and all. Wacko Charlie

Welcome to the Forums, Charlie!!! Charlie and his wife, Margaret Ann, have been Hoosier Ligthousing Club members since we started the club and are two of our hardest workers at the OMC lighthouse every Spring and Fall..

Re: 2008 Product Releases - 12/07/07 02:32 AM

Glad to see you finally posting, Charlie. Now that you have figured out how you need to do so more often.

If Tony spilled all the beans about the Grand Tour there would be nothing for people to guess about. Got to have something to discuss.

Being a new dealer, I'm not used to the routine yet. When will dealers get their updates?
Posted By: Dave H

Re: 2008 Product Releases - 12/07/07 05:54 AM

Roland,

I believe Tony sends the info to the reps a few days before it is released to the collectors. You should make sure your rep stays in touch with you and forwards on information they may receive via email. When there is something on paper I believe it is mailed early enough that the dealers should have it before the collector is told about it.

Thanks Dave,
I'll be talking with my rep tomorrow, so I'll ask her about it.

Thanks, all. Lots of hard work with these fingertips, but it was all worth it just so I could show off my granddaughter!
Haven't heard anything yet on the new releases, but you guys will be the second to know when I find out, (my customers will be first, of course!) wink

Re: 2008 Product Releases - 12/23/07 09:04 PM

Will there be January 2008 releases? Tony C's post of 10/18 noted that "Harry has outdone Harry" but from what I remember in year's past, early December was usually the point when HL gave us our "sneak peak". It's been rather quiet... not even speculation as to some of the pieces on the "wish lists" becoming reality.

You think he's a tease, well I have shot the first of the 2008 releases and as always they are all really well done!! There are a couple of real bigtime winners in the group..

The release date is coming soon or I wouldn't have had a deadline to get them shot for the website before the end of the year..

Harry has continued on the road to perfection!!

Any guesses on what will be forthcoming from Harbour Lights in 2008? I don't know exactly when the announcement will be made, but it should be soon.

My guess is we may see Ponham Rocks Light, East Providence RI, or maybe Watch Hill Light, Watch Hill RI.

What do you think may be our first HL's for 2008?

Ponham Rocks would definitely float my boat as would Eastern Point.

Pomham ROcks or Watch HIll RI would be a definite WOW!!

Long Island
New Jersey
Maryland

Good point, Bob, except I am getting strong "vibes" that New England will be represented again, and maybe again in 2008.

Maybe my vibes are just wishful thinking. Time will tell as it always has!

Whatever is released, I hope it's more exciting than the Roanoke River open edition of a previous "exclusive" Society piece and hopefully not anything mounted on the wooden base!

I'm really hoping for a 2008 Jersey lighthouse release, but a Maryland and Long Island release would be special too.

In fact every release is special !!!

There's three points I've learned in my role as webmaster:

1. Tony will crown me if I leak early
2. He'll bristle and bluster
3. I'll get an icy reception when I call

But anyway, "The Grand Tour" might include a 'coast' ride and a barrel ride at Niagara.

Re: 2008 Product Releases - 12/28/07 01:32 AM

Ohhh, are you going to be in trouble!! Tony will be mad . But we like it!! Your clues were pretty obscure last time - certainly didn't give anything away. If I recall, even the knowledgeable people could only guess a few of them - and then you didn't tell us if the guesses were right or not. So how can that get you in trouble. Come on, Tony!!

It's not Niagra Lighthouse, you need to use the whole clue..

Fort Niagara light would be the first lighthouse you float by. Then into Lake Ontario???

The other clues lead me to think Bristle Ferry, RI and Crown Point, NY are included. ICY makes me think of St. Joseph Pier, MI.

LIGHTSHIP OVERFALLS!!!!!
Posted By: Mark Wagner

Re: 2008 Product Releases - 12/29/07 03:21 AM

I don't know if I am off target or not, but there is a lighthouse in between the Buffalo lighthouses and the falls on the Canadian side, I don't know what it is called and it is not really attractive so I doubt that would be the one.

I'd be delighted with another lightship, as well as an ICY addition to my Southern Lake Michigan collection. A 'coaster' ride aside Lake Erie would be nice for the Great Lakes collection, and of course my favorite 'Big Red' in white would be welcomed. And a 'Crown' to the G/Lakes collection (does Lake Champlain count) would be a focal 'point'.

Looks like a great start to '08 for the Great Lakes fans. towel

Waukegan Harbor Lighthouse, IL

Really a great lineup for the beginning of 2008. Someone mentioned on another forum of 3o some odd releases this year. Where did that infor come from?
Bristol Ferry and Windmill Point are two of my favorites.

Re: 2008 Product Releases - 12/30/07 01:48 AM

That would be if they released them five times a year... I suspect there will about the same amount of limited editions released as last year..

Bristol Ferry

When I get home next week I will be shooting closeups of the 2008 lights and posting them here in the Forums... Bristol Ferry will be one of my favorites to show off with the closeup images, it is very, very well done!!

There are more than one thread currently running about the first look at the new releases for 2008. It's nice to see more excitement at the CF as our fellow collectors waited patiently for the announcement.

A tip of the Captain's Hat for the way harbour Lights handled the introductions.
