Thanks for the link. My thoughts:

Old Mission Point, MI (10,000 @ $70)---HL continues its heavy emphasis on the Great Lakes State. Nice piece.

La Coruna, Spain (6,500 @ $65)---Curious edition size, given that, with the low price and its history, I'd think this one would be a huge seller.

Fisgard, BC and Cove Island, ON (8,000 each @ $69 and $68). Smaller edition size is a good thing, given that these probably won't fly off the shelves (isn't it amazing that Peggy's Cove hasn't retired after 3 years??)

All in all, nice additions to the line, but nothing that adds fuel to the self-proclaimed "Year of the Unexpected" (except, perhaps, the lower edition sizes).

Bill Younger will be here in Portland, Maine tomorrow (Saturday, June 5) at Country Noel in the Old Port district. I'll pick his brain and see if the 10,000 edition size is slowly being phased out. For the good of the line, I hope so.

"Year of the Unexpected"?

Seems to me in the announcement of these latest 4 issues, what Harbour Lights is trying to do is adjust edition sizes to last a certain period of time. 8,000 for the two Canadian pieces. With East Quoddy that will make 4 Canadian lights. Who would have thought a year ago that of the 1999 pieces there would be 3 different edition sizes? Weren't we all expecting 10,000 on every limited edition?

There are now several HL dealers in Canada. These stores will probably order good quantities with that many fewer for the US Market.

Old Mission Point at 10,000 however seems a bit ambitious, considering that Round Island which is in a more visible setting, was retired short of the edition limit of 9,500.

Just had to put in a comment about the "edition size" of the new lighthouses. I recently used the forum marketplace to purchase a lighthouse from someone who was condensing their collection. They said during our communications that they might not purchase some of the new pieces since the edition size was 9,000 or 10,000. They felt that that number of an edition did not make the piece rare enough to collect. They are not collecting trying to make money in the furure, just collecting what they want. Maybe the smaller edition sizes will make people buy the lighthouses faster thinking they will not last as long as an edition of 10,000.

Just a Thought without much Thought behind it.

Oops - forgot one item.

I just received my Legacy today - Tues. June 8 - and I cannot wait for the Old Mission Point Mi. lighthouse. This will make a great match with the Grand Traverse Mi. lighthouse.
They are both in beautiful northwest Michigan and I have been to both and have several good photos to display with them. Also the Cove Island Ontario Canada is one that I will have to have since it is also in the Great Lakes area.

If they did the Yorba Blanco lighthouse with an edition size of 48,000 - that would be unexpected.

Hi Tim, ... Happy Meal Glows??? You might have a great idea there. Coastal McDonalds, especially those near LHs could offer Happy Meal Glows. This would definitely generate interest in local LHs from their particular areas. What a way to cultivate future HL Collectors!

I just hope there is a McDonalds near the Coquille River LH.

Picture this:

"Welcome to McDonalds, can I take your order?"

Tim: "Yes, could I have the Coquille Log (new name for hot dog) with the log jam fries, and a Coquille River shake, please."

"Okay, would you like to supersize that sir?" "That would mean you could get the regular Coquille Glow instead of the thumbnail Glow of Coquille."

Tim: "Yes, that sounds great"

"That will be $59.95, please pull forward to the next window."

I saw Bill Younger twice in a weekend at signing events last month. I told him that the 10,000 edition size was too large. He replied "What about the export market?" or something to that effect. I said if they were planning to export it might make a difference but 10,000 is too many for the domestic market for most releases.

Now 3 of 4 new pieces are non-USA lights and the edition sizes for all 3 are under 10,000. Go figure!

I started in this mess with an interest in just two lights. Then the disease set in and there is no cure. I love and must have them all. Hope I live long enough.
