Thanks for the catalog request link, John. That's really convenient. My dealer probably won't get them in until around July.

Paul, I ordered and received two of those bears. They ARE cute. I got Looki and Teague. They're small but they go well on the corners of my HL shelf- only $9.95.

Mike;
There's no doubt in my mind that he is a Saint too. He does a lot to help fellow collectors, even donated one of his pieces to auction for a fellow wacko in need. Helped me set set up with #93 on auto ship.

I received a postcard from The Lighthouse Depot saying that they were shipping the SOL on the 31st of January. We'll see.

Autoships of Liberty arrived at my dealer in St. Louis today. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. The detail and colors are beautiful. By far the most accurate model of her I have ever seen.

SOL has arrived in Jacksonville, FL. My dealer called tonight. Going down tomorrow to look at it. I don't think it is on my hot list to buy but I might change my mind after seeing it in person.

Just picked up my SOL from last week's shipment. Have to admit that this is a really nice looking piece. I especially like the "copper" paint on the entrance doorway and windows above. Found the seahorse, but will let others explore for it. I think this is the first time a metallic paint has been used? Hows yours looking Paul?

She arrived in southern New Jersey (via Florida) on Wednesday. An excellent replica, she will be placed in a position of prominence in the curio.

Pick up my L.E.W. last Saturday. I was very impressed that the statue has realistic color and shading to it. I saw the A.P. at the Atlanta event and the Statue was one shade of green. The production model is by far perfected than the Artist Proof we saw at Atlanta.

Re: Statue of Liberty - 02/22/00 06:21 AM

The stuffed animals are definitely cute, and they did for a period of time serve as functional bears, but were they ever really important as bears? I, personally, would prefer to see Smokey Bear, Yogi Bear, or even Max Baer as the official bear of the new millenium!

Nope, all those bears get plenty of recognition. What happened to that old moth eaten Teddy in the closet. The one your great great grandfather might have played with. A little more recognition would have helped the cause of a lesser known Teddy.

Love those Coastal Cubs...I have the whole set myself and I have them lined up on the top of the Harbour Lights curios. They kind of go nice together.

Re: Statue of Liberty - 02/28/00 08:58 PM

A definite "WOW!".

My SOL arrived today from my Oregon dealer and I am very enthusiastic about this piece.

This piece should attract many non-collectors. It is very well-proportioned and the statue looks just like every picture of the real one. I've not seen any other SOL pieces from other companies, but it would be hard to believe any other one is better than Harbour Lights.

Paul's photos show it off well -- but you'll need to see it in person to appreciate the detail and the fine sculpturing.

I'm going to be looking for one of those glass domes for this one. Anybody have leads on those?

Re: Statue of Liberty - 02/28/00 10:01 PM

I'd have to agree with John on this. I just got my SOL the other day. I wasn't expecting to buy this but it is everything John has said an more. A fantastic piece. I too am looking for a glass dome. I want to display it in a seperate place from the rest of my HL's.

Re: Statue of Liberty - 02/28/00 11:21 PM

Found two on line: The first one doesn't seem to have a stock dome/base the right size. The second one does. I figured 91/2" tall x 8" Round -- but that has to be the INSIDE dimension for the dome.

Re: Statue of Liberty - 03/01/00 01:55 AM

Oh yes, the lady is very nice. The ferry ride was a bit cold and the 3 hr. wait to get to the crown was a tad long but it was worth it. Forget the replica just move the real thing next to my pond. I might have to expand a little bit though.

Hi Everyone,

Please,no hate mil for this letter..lol I also got my SOL last week.It is a wonderful piece but for some reason, and maybe its my eyes, does not look right displayed with the other lights. Its detail is fantastic but there's something about it that makes me say.."its better suited away from all the others and by itself somewhere".Just haven't figured out where yet.Maybe my eyes are becoming to used to the cylindrical look of all the others. It is worth the price by far and I'm sure many others here will find that perfect spot for it.Now,help me
Happy collecting!

Re: Statue of Liberty - 03/05/00 04:03 AM

Just visited the Lighthouse Depot ("World's Largest Lighthouse Store") and if demand there for the SOL is any indication, this one's going to be a smash hit.

The assistant there told me that they've been caught way off guard in terms of supply and demand...as in huge demand, low supply. Says people who order today won't be able to get their pieces probably until early May.

She also told me that the general consensus among customers was that it's got the finest detail of any SOL sculpture they (the customers) have seen.

We have to keep in mind that they do huge volume from both their retail location and mega-catalog sales. Yet it's the most enthusiastic response I've heard from the folks at Lighthouse Depot toward a Harbour Lights sculpture since Sanibel.

John,

Thanks for the Info on the Glass Domes. I have to agree with Bob on the SoL. I intend to show it in a seperate, and more promonate location under its own dome because it is special, and is, as John stated above, a definate WOW!.

Re: Statue of Liberty - 03/09/00 01:16 AM

I got mine 3/3/00, and have not been able to take my eyes off it except to eat sleep and whatever. In other words I LOVE IT, and yes, I am ordering a glass dome for it, as it is going to set on my piano or on the mantle over the fire place. A few more pieces like this one, and ther will be such a demand for HL, that a 15,000 pc. release could be normal. Every time an exceptional piece,{and all of them are exceptional in my opinion, even Navasink}but when one like this comes out,I'm sure we gain several more collectors. Thanks to HL for once again getting a WOW rating.

When the year 2000 comes to an end, Liberty Enlightening The World may be the biggest hit ever for Harbour Lights!

Don't worry about delivery times. If the order is placed, you will eventually get it. It's the ordering that gets cut-off on 12/31/2000. I expect many dealers will order extras when they tally up how they are doing on the ones they have now.

Several people in different threads have expressed an interest in a glass dome or other stand-alone casing for SoL. Here are some options:

Re: Statue of Liberty - 04/01/00 05:38 PM

Yesterday when I went to pick up Cape Henlopen I asked to see the SOL's that had not been unpacked yet. Just wanted to look, not intending to buy. I.O. was buying Henlopen for my birthday and when he saw "the lady" he told the dealer, "Give us one of these too." He told me, "You can't have a collection of lighthouses and not have this one." So I guess the decision was taken out of my hands. She is in the china cabinet with some of boat models. Looks good there.

Got my Lady Enlightening the World yesterday.
Kind of surprised by green SoL designed box, gold coin, and two booklets. I had seen an AP that BY had back in October 31 but this one was better than I remember. Didn't intend to buy before I got there, but left with only a dollar and loose change in my pocket so I guess I was more than impressed!

Re: Statue of Liberty - 04/26/00 12:59 AM

Anybody got any clues on when this one will be out? I have had mine ordered for sometime now. Talked to my local dealer yesterday and he said that he just received his order from HL and the SOL is still backordered. I know this thing has taken off, but any clues?

I ordered my Statue of Liberty back on the first of February. It just came into my dealer on 4/20. I had to wait almost three months, but it was well worth it. It's a great piece.

Re: Statue of Liberty - 04/27/00 12:55 AM

I finally got the call while at work today. I went right back out and picked it up. I had ordered it back in January, but my dealer kept getting pushed back on it. It has a permanent place in the middle of the top of the entertainment center in my living room. Dennis

Re: Statue of Liberty - 04/27/00 01:19 PM

I must admit that the SoL is really well done, but it is not my favorite HL. Currently my SoL is on the top shelf right under the halogen light in one of my curios. I've received many favorable comments from friends and family on how much they like the piece. The halogen light seems to make the gold torch look like it's actually lit. So, therefore, the SoL will remain in that position for a while.
