Patriots vs. Colts, Sunday 01/21/2007 - 01/16/07 03:51 PM

Place your bets, Ladies & Gentlemen! Will Peyton Manning lead his team to victory against the mighty New England Patriots next Sunday, or will Tom Brady & Crew come to Indy and kick some butt?

This should be one heck of a game to watch.

cool Bob cool

Note: I corrected the date in the title. I must have had a brain cramp when I put the wrong date down.

I think it may just be the year that the Colts make it to the Super Bowl.

They seem to have finally found a defense now that thier offense is not scoring touchdowns at will.

I'm going with a Colts- Saints Super Bowl.

The above said I can go with either team winnig either game this week- my Eagles are out of it now.

I think the real Superbowl will be this weekend in Indy... Being a Colts season ticket holder since 1984, you can already guess who I favor in the game..

I am counting on a victory this weekend for another reason, when I got home last night I had a FedEx envelope at my door with a letter from the Colts saying that I had won in the lottery of season ticket holders to have the option of purchasing two tickets to this years Superbowl.. I had to purchase them with a cashier check before this Friday at 5pm at the Colts Complex ( if in the rare chance they don't win Sunday the money just goes towards next years season tickets)...

I have been there, done that and made reservations for plane tickets, car rental and hotel reservations... The plane tickets will cost me to change them (perhaps to Jacksonville/St. Augustine in March, maybe) but the car and room are no problem..

So if the Colts take care business with the Patriots, Chad and Paul L Brady will be at this years Superbowl!!!

I like the Colts over the Patriots this Sunday.

After the way the San Diego Chargers gave away last Sundays game my early hope for a Chargers-Bears Superbowl game is out. Now it's Colts-Bears if Chicago can play their game against New Orleans.

Do I detect a little doubt that Peyton & Crew can pull this one off? Perhaps you should have stated, "When the Colts take care of business...".

I wish you the best of luck, Paul, and if the Patriots can't win this one, I sincerely hope that the Colts go all the way at the Superbowl. I've escorted the Colts more than any other NFL Team and they have many wonderful people in that organization. Not all teams are like that.

Bob,

I think it's a function of two things: (1) the defense has to remember to show up again this week as they have the past two weeks. (2) Peyton has to be on his game, which he hasn't the past two weeks.

After a season long open door policy by the defense, they showed up in a big way the past two weeks. It seems that as long as Sanders plays they are OK. Must be that he has the keys to the ignition? After being out for most of the season it is good to have him back causing problems for the other guys offense.

I was picking San Diego to win it all, but they gave a gift to the Patriots and Indy by losing that game on Sunday. Poor Marty, how many more ways are there for him to lose. Talk is he will be out of a job in San Diego in the next few days...

I look for the Colts to win ...

I must go with the Colts, even though Manning is a Tennessee graduate. He needs to finally beat someone in a big game(he lost 4 to the Gators).

Did you know that Coach Marty once played for the former Boston Patriots? He did for two years.

There's been a lot of hype in the Boston papers about the Pats vs. Colts game next Sunday. They're playing up the fact that Adam V. may make the difference. I think some sports writers are favoring the Colts by 3 points. It seems no matter how many times the Patriots win they end up as the under dogs. Brady has been very cordial and hasn't stated one bad thing about the Colts. Brady is wise beyond his years.

The hype is accelerating fast in this area. Sports people love this stuff. There's no doubt in my mind that this game will have millions of people sitting on the edge of their seats. The area sports bars will make a handsome profit off of this game.

This game will be close. I do have a funny feeling it will be won by 3 or 4 points. I don't see any chance of a blow-out. Both teams are just that good. I'll predict the Patriots will prevail, 21-17. I also feel the winning points will come in the last few minutes of the 4th quarter. That's when Tom Brady and the "Pats" really shine.

PEYTON GOES TO HEAVEN

Peyton Manning, after living a full life, died. When he got to heaven, God was showing him around. They came to a modest little house with a faded Colts flag in the window. "This house is yours for eternity, Peyton," said God. "This is very special; not everyone gets a house up here."

Peyton felt special, indeed, and walked up to his house. On his way up the porch, he noticed another house just around the corner. It was a 3-story mansion with a blue and red sidewalk, a 50-foot tall flagpole with an enormous Patriots logo flag, and in every window, a Patriot towel. Peyton looked at God and said "God, I'm not trying to be ungrateful, but I have a question. I was an all-pro QB, I hold many NFL records, and I even went to the Hall of Fame."

God said "So what's your point Peyton?"

"Well, why does Tom Brady get a better house than me?"

God chuckled, and said "Peyton, that's not Tom's house, it's mine."

I just want all you Patriot fans to remember one thing: The blowout (41-14) the lowly underdog, inferior SEC Conference and highly under rated Florida Gators had over the much touted, highly favored and very over confident Ohio State Buckeyes.

My point is: Colts 35, Patriots 10.

Re: Patriots vs. Colts, Sunday 01/21/2007 - 01/22/07 03:30 AM

21-6 at the half. Not much of a showing from the Colts so far, but the game ain't over yet. I'm still looking for the Patriots to prevail especially after jumping out to such a large lead so early in the game.

There will be no joy in Indy tonight.

I was rooting for the Colts...much as I like the Patriots, I got the "Yankee Complex" this year. They're always in it lately...give someone else a chance. (BTW, I never get this complex with the Yankees. They can win the Series every year and I won't care. But that's a conversation for a few months from now...)

With my extremely limited knowledge of football (read: In gym class I stole the ball from the QB and ran the wrong way with it), I know that the Colts are a team that have deserved this. It's great to see that they've finally won.

NOW...they have to beat the Bears. We don't like the Bears.

I don't really know why.

Lets see how long it takes Paul to let it set in that he's going to the Super Bowl. towel

Great game- especially the second half.

In some ways games like the Bears-Saints game are easier to take- it was over much earlier than the Colts game.

I'm going with the Colts in the Super Bowl- I think it's thier year.

Well, as a lifelong Bears fan I am quite happy to see the Bears in the Super Bowl, as a Hoosier I am also happy to see the Colts there too. This is kind of a dream matchup for us Hoosiers in Northwest Indiana.

Good luck to both teams!

I'll be rooting for the bears!

Well I guess I had the 3 or 4 points thing right, but that was about it. Congrats to all the Colts fans who really have something to cheer about. All the area Patriot fans are a bit down according to the newspapers. These people have soon forgotten what a great run the "Pats" had to be able to play in the AFC Championship Game. Now they can experience the same thing the Colts' fans have on a few occasions.

Now that my home team is out of it, I sincerely hope the Colts prevail at the Superbowl. They will certainly have their hands full with the Bears. They are one tough team.

I just picked up my two Superbowl tickets.. There are $600 a piece... Was offered $3500 a piece on the way in to pick them up, I talked to another guy that got a $4500 offer per ticket.. I told the guy it would take a lot more than that for mine since I have invested in 2 season tickets for 23 years, I figure that total is what I have invested in these ticket!!

Re: Patriots vs. Colts, Sunday 01/21/2007 - 01/24/07 09:56 PM

You're a very lucky guy, Paul. I would say go to the game and experience what the Superbowl has to offer. You paid your dues for a very long time, and being there to cheer your Colts on to victory will be sweet.

If the Colts return to the Superbowl in the near future you will have first-hand knowledge as to whether or not to cave in and sell the seats for really big bucks.

One of the guys that use to work with me would go to where ever the Superbowl was being played and take his chances. He lucked out a couple of times being able to buy a ticket from a scalper for a modest sum after the game had already begun.
If he couldn't score a ticket, he would go the area pub and watch it on television. He figured he was close enough to enjoy the whole Superbowl experience that way. Worked for him, but not something I would do.

Enjoy Miami!

One of the local travel agencies was selling a 3 Fri-Mon Superbowl package. They are staying in Clearwater and will have to bus to the game. Interestingly, before the dust was settled they had prices up on their web site - if the Colts played NO it was going to be like $800 a seat less expensive than if they played the Bears. Cost is $5600 a seat, double occupancy, for flight, room, tickets and some meals and sightseeing. Think Paul scored a little better deal! Maybe it was one of the travel agency people working the line to buy up the tickets they need...........
