Here is a gift for Ladybug. Those of us who attended the reunion, as well as many who didn't, are aware of the efforts that Darlene contributed to the compilation of the fabulous scrapbook that was presented to the Youngers. She, along with her elves, furnished us "rookies" with many supplies as well as advice. Without Darlene's help there would have been no scrapbook.

As we did much to deplete her cache of supplies here is a gift certificate to help replenish them.

Since our wonderful friend Derith loves to travel. We thought that we would get her a special "travel" Christmas package!

We felt that the first gift should be better luggage - the "Barbie" size suitcase and color just don't seem to fit. Seems Mike and Patty are mighty generous with their gifts...and fortunate ME, I am the one discovering all the places and experiences I will have with the many items in my gift package. I know it will be a wonderful trip!

New luggage, I'll miss the Barbie Doll suitcase, but will adjust nicely to something new.

Orbitz always has great flights and Hertz is my choice of rental cars.

The lighthouse bed and breakfasts are my favorite places. I think I'll enjoy the Heceta Head one best, but the others are terrific as well.

Most of all I thank you for the good holiday wishes. So far, our time is going too quickly, as we are enjoying our two daughters, my mother and aunt and each other. We look forward to visiting with our grandtwins as soon as their time with their Dad is over. God has been so good to us and has seen us thru a great deal this past year.

Well, I have finally finished up my virtual shopping for Patty & Mike (Kaiz). I have pretty much known what my plan was all along, but I gotta tell you, the virtual malls have been absolutely maxed to capacity when I have been on-line, making it difficult to finalize my purchases.

John gave us a very generous allowance to shop with, and having worked for the government for too many years, I believe in using up your alloted budget, which I have tried to do. My gifts to Patty & Mike do revolve around our favorite pasttime, lighthousing. So, here goes:

What better way to view a lighthouse than to see it as it was intended, from the water? Well, to help make this possible I have arranged for Patty to receive gift #1 . It will, I believe, expedite the process of getting there. Now, to get to where this first gift can be used, Patty will need help. Knowing the kind of girl she is, I have ordered gift # 2 for her. Pretty much the same as in this pic, but I'm thinking of having flames added. Finally, for those more leisurely outings, I think Patty will enjoy gift #3 .

Now, I felt bad about not getting Mike anything of his own. Well, I found something I felt more appropriate for his level of expertise - gift #4 .

Maybe we can coordinate with Derith and Maureen to make good use of these gifts.

After Patty & Mike have picked up their present, I will be back to show how the rest of John's allowance was spent.

Now, a word of thanks to Tim the Torchbearer for his thoughtfull gift. First, Tim, it's too late for the sanity as it is long gone (but not just because of Heather). I really like the sneaky spy stuff. At this point, Heather doesn't have enough time in her schedule for much of a social life. So, I have been looking at other ways to use my new toys and I think it will be lots of fun! Don't know where the stuff will turn up next!

I was thinking of getting George (Pharologst) a curio cabinet because the one he received was damaged, but then I think he did get a replacement.

So, my second choice for a retired couple was to send Mr. and Mrs. on a nice vacation, but I don't think they'd leave their precious little dog behind for two weeks (Ireland July 18 - August 1).

Wow, looks like Mark and Tim will be dancing the nights away at the FSB this year. Mark teaching Tim the Polkas, and Tim teaching Mark the Disco steps. I'll definitely stay away from their Friday night Poker games for awhile! LOL.

Patty, I was especially pleased with the first two gifts. Somehow I can just see you cruising down the road in that big old dually crew cab pulling your new boat! I really think the flames will help get a little more attention for you, as the bright red just quite wasn't enough. By the way, the truck, at $46,500, was rather nicely equipped. I went ahead and ordered you the turbo diesel version, all the heavy duty options and the full leather interior, complete with heated seats for those cold upstate New York winter mornings.

I'm really looking forward to the opportunity to do a little lighthouse cruising with you - shall we use the speed boat or the big boat?

Since I only spent about $317,000 of John's allowance, I have set the balance up in a trust account to provide them with a yearly allowance to operate their new toys. BobM and friends - just got a call from Fred wishing the season's best and I read him your gifts. He loved it!

He's still got the infection he came down with on the return trip from the Reunion.

Wow!!, I don't what to say Tim, This explains all the sawing and hammering and odd noises coming from the FSB workshop. The kids thought someone was torturing a small animal in the workshop but now I guess it was just "tuning", and by the way I almost bought one of those but Michelle told "wait until after christmas, you'll never know what you might get"

Oh and Rod, as far as the Friday night poker game is concerned, it's still on and remember our motto "Liquor in the front and poker in the rear" or is that polka now?. But seriously though, first and third Saturdays are still disco nights and now second and fourth Saturdays are now Polka Saturdays (fish fry from 4-7) at the FSB dance hall & credit union. I can hear the music already (darn kids have it turned all the way up again)

Legend has it that Fred was best friends with Lou Gherig growing up. Maybe even roommates at Columbia University? (Totally unsubstantiated but interesting...no?)
