Re: Gas Price Discussion Part 4 - 11/26/05 01:24 PM

87 octane just dropped another two cents to $1.97 yesterday at Cumberland Farms/Gulf. I love the fact that filling your tank now cost $40-$45 rather than $65-$70.

I wonder if the prices on heating oil will follow suit? I haven't had a fuel oil fill-up in a couple of months and I last paid $2.49 per gallon. I heard it went as high as $2.79 per gallon in this area.

What are you guys paying for heating oil?

Filled up today - $2.09 for 87 octane. It's a lot easier to pay $26 than nearly $40 a while back.

Re: Gas Price Discussion Part 4 - 12/06/05 07:26 PM

87 octane went from $1.95 to $2.11 a gallon in the last two days at the local Gulf station up the street. Oil companies probably want to make a few extra bucks during the holiday season.

Re: Gas Price Discussion Part 4 - 12/06/05 11:16 PM

Sunday on the news they were talking about the price of crude going up and thus the price of gasoline would soon follow. Low and behold, first thing Monday most stations in town bumped the price somewhere in the vicinity of 30 cents or more (from 1.95 to 2.25). Noticed this afternoon that some had already brought it back down a dime, to 2.15. I'm sure they were overcome feeling so badly about the windfall profit they were taking.........

Re: Gas Price Discussion Part 4 - 12/07/05 04:53 PM

Gas prices just dropped 5 cents a gallon after going up 16 cents a gallon the two days before. Gas retailers and/or oil companies are price gouging. They are intentionally screwing the public to put more profits in their pockets.

Prices are going up and down on the gas in the underground tanks. Prices are not being adjusted as new loads of gas arrive. The latest excuse for the increase was the pending snow storm last Tuesday.

Is this how it's happening in your sections of the country.

2.05 in my part of Orlando. No increases, just falling slowly. Of course several have been charged with price gouging after Katrina, so maybe they are being careful.

We have gone from 2.03 a gallon to $2.13 a gallon in Ocala for no reason at all. Its like Bob said "It must be the snow storm cominng".

Re: Gas Price Discussion Part 4 - 12/19/05 12:54 PM

The cheaper gas stations are now selling 87 octane for $2.14. The increase happend last week.

Wouldn't it be nice if all Americans could just stop buying gas for a few days to see what would happen. One would think their would be one heck of a price war to lure us back.

Re: Gas Price Discussion Part 4 - 01/07/06 03:26 AM

Oh man, I sure hope we don't get real cold temps this winter if oil's more than gas. I've cut the thermostat back to 66 this year and 62 at night. And I close every curtain and blind as soon as it gets dark. Not much solar heat this year either, too bad we couldn't have saved some of that terrific heat that we had last summer!

I last filled up on Nov. 18th and paid 179.9. which was the most I'd ever paid. I have two tanks for a total of 550 gallons capacity. Usually I fill up in the summer and then add another 300 gallons in mid January (minimum amount for best price). Last spring was so cold we needed a third delivery so had some left to start out this heating season.

Re: Gas Price Discussion Part 4 - 01/07/06 03:52 PM

Gas prices have risen sharply around here. About the cheapest for 87 octane is $2.27 a gallon. I've seen 87 octane as high as $2.49. That's not good news but it's better than over three dollars a gallon.

I bet y'all can't wait to see the quarterly reports on record profits for oil companies again.

Re: Gas Price Discussion Part 4 - 01/07/06 05:31 PM

Bob - What's their excuse this time around? eek As far as I know there are no hurricanes anywhere! How do you spell "Price Gouging"? What ever happened to good old "Government regulations"? Gas, oil, electricity, telephone - now it's just let them charge whatever they want the poor utilities! I think it is a very sad situation when the citizens of this country, especially the elderly are being forced to decide between buying food, heating their homes, driving their cars or paying for the medicine and doctor's visits that they all need! Where are the Senators and Congressmen when you need them?

Re: Gas Price Discussion Part 4 - 01/08/06 04:12 AM

Ooops I lied when I reported my last fuel oil bill. (I was looking at a bill from last year!)

It was $2.079 that I paid last and that was on August 11th.

I paid $2.41 for gas a couple days ago. Today that station's up to $2.47.
