Its been awhile since I've tweaked HL, so we're both due.

The most recent Lighthouse Legacy is feeble. Is this really the best they can do?

How many of you have actually made any of the recipes printed in a Legacy?

A full page ad for the balloon sculptures.

And you thought Navesink was a doorstop? Now you have a chance to WIN the tackiest thing Y&A has come up with yet - a gold plated model of the Bay Bridge on "a wood-like base". Wood-u-like?

I think Harbour Lights could instantly...INSTANTLY...triple the interest in the Legacy by writing more "behind the scenes" articles about the production process. I know they've done some of it in the past...but not nearly enough.

They would QUADRUPLE interest by actually publishing an interview with Bill Younger about ups and downs of his 12-year reign.

---How about an article on the balloons so we know why they chose to create them and how they're made.

---How about some commentary on the original 17---why, specifically, were they chosen? That would be fascinating.

---The Assateague mold break. How was that crisis handled?

---Production challenges. What pieces have they just not had any luck creating? (for instance...Point Vicente). How about Thomas Point: What was it like the day they finally figured out how to do it? That would be COOL!

---Society pieces and Christmas pieces: Why do they choose the sculptures they do?

---What are some of the reasons why sculpture prototypes have been rejected? When is the "Aha!" moment when everybody agrees that a sculpture is perfect and should be released?

Inquiring minds want to know!

P.S. I tried one of the recipes. It tasted like paper.

So Bill.., you're saying to eat the Legacy and forget the recipes? You know the Legacy could be more interesting when you look at the inserts first.

Other than an opportunity to see some photos by and of some of my collector buddies I don't see a whole lot of value in the legacy. It does prove, I guess that we're still on HL's mailing list.

For those collectors not on the internet it would have more value.

Bravo to all the above. The Legacy used to be interesting and I would read it a couple of time to digest all they printed. It's a five minute one time throught it now. Nothing really interesting in it anymore and I could care less about the recipes and other junk they fill the pages with. Let's get some meat back into it and tell us something we don't know already.

I think Mombo said it best- it's because we already get 90% of the info here before we get the Legacy.

It does serve a useful purpose to those not "connected".

I think we get spoiled by our "insights" that the average collector doesn't get.

What's that old saying- Always leave them wanting more!

Actually, Bill had some good suggestions. Those topics would be very interesting to read about. In effect, they are part of the history (dare I say 'legacy'?) of Harbour Lights.

We do have an advantage by being Connected Collectors, but I do believe that HL could include more 'meat' in the Legacy each quarter.

It is interesting that the recent Legacy includes the "Save the Forums" picture of the Forum's Most Repeatedly Photographed Lighthouse, Grand Haven. ...And still no link?

Ok, I'm done being cranky,

Tim,

No I have not. I was talking from a general point of view.

Yes, the Legacy is a bit of a lightweight in it's content.

I also agree that many of Bill's ideas would be great to see in the Legacy.

I'm not sure why I haven't gotten it yet.

I too think they should put the link back. We have a link to the HL site.

The Legacy has become more of a "vanity" publication as opposed to it's more informative one.
