Remember the Forgotten HL Model

Remember the Forgotten HL Model - 08/06/00 04:33 AM

We tend to forget about gravity and I suspect we tend to forget about certain HL models. Some models are not interesting, have no history or variations, were never big sellers, and a few of us don't have as many neurons firing as we once had.

I started thinking about which models are rarely mentioned in discussions, or infrequently for sale.

Which piece do you think is The Forgotten Model?

My nomination is: * Spectacle Reef *

Nice wizardry with the mouse Tim. I won't give it completely away in my post.

I have to disagree with your choice though. Your pick has it's times at R@R, along with one other of the Stamp Series pieces.

The ones that R@R has had for as long as I've been 'the source behind the curtain' are the Lady Lightkeepers. I don't recall one request for any of these pieces in over a year. On the other hand, R@R has sold a few dealer's entire stock of your pick.

Good topic Tim, like a few of your recent posts. I'm still trying to come up with my 'Sweet Sixteen'.

Well nobody seems to mention Selkirk but me! Too bad they didn't put the van on it.

Paul,

I only included *Split Rock LE* because it met these criteria: "rarely mentioned in discussions, or infrequently for sale."

The model has lots of other stuff going for it, imo, so why it meets these criteria perplexes me.

Not interesting? NOT

Have no history? NOT

or variations? NOT

Were never big sellers? (perplexed)

...and a few of us don't have as many neurons firing as we once had (truism).

Tim, 1. I am amazed at the wizardry too!
2. Great topic
3. I have two nominations:
A. Saugerties - good piece with decent detail but is grouped with the "Ladys" series and was forgotten
B. Currituck - Has been mentioned lately under the "Ebaymmm" topic, but even then it is dissed. Seldom for sale or discussed.
Thanks for the topic starter

I keep wanting to post my choice for the forgotten lighthouse, but every time I start, I forget which lighthouse it is that I was going to post as my suggestion.

Re: Remember the Forgotten HL Model - 08/08/00 03:34 AM

The evidence at R@R disputes the candidates that Sean and Todd have nominated. Those two pieces are among the more popular, steadily requested, pieces and lately have become hard to find.

There are some selections that R@R has carried leads for since it's inception and for the time that I've been 'the man behind the curtain' have had very few, if any, requests from collectors.

Besides the Lady Lightkeepers series, Cape Meares, Jeffry's Hook, and Beavertail have languished on the R@R radar screen.
