No Colts? No Pats? Who is going?

No Colts? No Pats? Who is going? - 01/18/06 03:04 PM

The Patriots got their butts handed to them by the Broncos. The Colts lost a heart-breaker to the Steelers. Who is going to the Super Bowl?

I truly thought this was going to be the year for the Colts but I guess that didn't happen. With all the injuries the Patriots had, I really didn't expect them to go as far as they did.

Could it be the year for Pittsburgh to claim the Lombardi Trophy?

Colts really got their butt kicked by the Steelers, Bob. If not for the non-interception, it wouldn't have been close. It was exciting though, and Mr Brady must have been dying in the stands! How about the celebation by the Steelers followed by the Benes fumble, Rothberger tackle and Vitiari fga that almost missed the endzone.
Anyway, Steelers/Carolina for me - two wild card teams, peaking at the right time!
If Carolina can stop Tiki, why not Alexander?
If Steelers 'D' could stop the Colts juggernaut of offense the Denver is possible.
Or the other two could win. lol Very exciting Plafoffs for a change. Let's hope the referees don't effect the games?

Seattle over Carolina

Denver over Pittsburgh

Denver over Seattle for the title

My guess.

Doesn't really matter to me as long as it isn't Manning. I see he still has the curse of not being able to win the "Big One" that he carried at Tennessee when he couldn't beat the Gators no matter how hard he tried. I will root for the Steelers being from PA.

Who really cares? Springs training and the Daytona 500 are only a month away. wink wink

I want a Carolina vs. Denver matchup with the Panthers going all the way! Steve Smith (former University of Utah man) is having a great year for Carolina. smile

The best thing that could possibly happen to me after Chad and I drove home from the Colts game was Chloe gave GrandPaul a big hug... It was all better after that!!

I think it is going to be Steelers vs. Seahawks. And, out of loyalty to my Steeler-fan uncle, I think the Steelers will win it all.

I have to give a slight edge to the Steelers over Denver and will go with the Panthers over Seattle.

I'll then say the Steelers in the Super Bowl.

I'm always surprised by the amount of negativity that the Manning Brothers bring out in people. there are many who just love to hate them.

The Giants are out, so I kind of stopped caring.

It's kind of ironic that I'm so apathetic about the Super Bowl, since I was actually born on Super Bowl Sunday 1990 (28 Jan).

Not knowing the Mannings personally, I am not fond of either Archie or Payton because of the trash-talking that they have done during interviews on the local Gainesville station about the Gators while Payton played for Tennessee. I think that they were frustrated that in the 4 years that Payton played the Gators, he never beat the Gators so that frustration came out in the interviews. Of course this is coming from a die hard Gator fan and the Mannings may be the best thing since sliced bread.

Since the Vikings did not even make the playoffs this year, I guess I will cheer for the cheerleaders. laugh

Rich,

I don't follow college football much anymore so that may be why I'm surprised at the attitude towards them to a certain extent.

It seems that the dislike of Eli also started due to his college football days- and his connection to Peyton.

The Broncos will have to come Sunday "Full Game on"! The Broncos are hard to beat at home, but historically the Steelers don't lose on the road either.

Some seem to think the noise at Mile High (the 12th Man) will be a contributing factor, but the noise didn't seem to bother the Steelers at Indie, and my understanding is that is a very loud stadium. I would think the altitude might be more of a factor than noise, and the fact that the Steelers have been on the road for how many games in a row? Either way, Broncos better not slack off or the Steelers will take advantage.

However, being a loyal fan, I must say

BRONCOS ALL THE WAY! laugh laugh laugh

The NFC, I think will be Seahawks over the Panthers (My apologies to my Carolina cousins!).

Carolina over Seattle
Denver over Pittsburgh by a field goal

Denver over Carolina in the Super Bowl.

However, I also wouldn't be upset if Pittsburgh goes all the way.

My teams are all sitting at home now but it was a pretty good year. Being a hoosier I just had to cheer for them Colts and hey, they did pretty good. Everyone lauphed at me this spring when I predicted the Irish would be #1 and if it hadn't been for a few strange calls and a friendly push into the end-zone they just might have done it. They did pretty good. Everyone lauphed this spring when I predicted the Bears would win the Super Bowl, well, they opened a few eyes by winning the division, a #1 defense, yes they also did pretty good. So I guess even though none of them did what I wanted them to do, it was still a pretty good and fun season of football. I think Seattle will take the "big one". Now on to Nascar........ Ryan Newman will win the championship barely squeeking out a renewed Jeff Gordon in the points race. laugh

Darn that spell check didn't work again! Perhaps 'Indie' is the English (British) spelling??? smile lol

I guess I'm going to have to go with Seattle now.

Well, so much for "Jake the Snake". shocked The Broncos didn't bring "Game On" much less "Full Game On". The Steelers most certainly deserved to go to the Super Bowl after their performance today.

It'll be an ugly drive to work tomorrow. Folks will be angry mad and therefore very aggressive in their driving.

Mel, about 4:15 yesterday my neighbor across the street let out several large whoops and ran up and down the street with his very large Steelers flag. Not completely stupid, he returned home in less time than it takes to retrieve and load the average Colorado elk rifle. laugh laugh

I'm afraid that the "yawn" super bowl will be about as exciting as the Championship games. The game will be decided before half time. From halfway through the season it was simply not who was going to meet in the super bowl but who was going to get beat by the AFC this year. I don't think it's a matter as to how good Pitt is, just how bad the competition was this year in the NFC.

I'm kind of surprised that there isn't much interest being shown regarding Sunday's upcoming Super Bowl. No Steeler fans or Seahawk fans in the crowd?

Will you be watching the Super Bowl this Sunday?

Probably the only reason to watch would be to see the new crop of ads . . . . .

Actually, I plan to attend a meeting of the Theodore Burr Covered Bridge Society of PA meeting. That's a three hour one-way drive for me, but the meeting topic sounds interesting.

I'm looking for a good game. Most Supers Bowls are over by halftime but these teams match up well. Is this the beginning of a Steeler Run or will Seattle finally play up to it's potential.
Special teams, stopping the run, and turnovers are the keys to any football game. Simple game right?

Well the game was an entertaining one, to say the least. Most people don't like blow outs.

Congratulations to the Steelers for their impressive win. Congrats to the Sea Hawks for a fine performance even though they didn't prevail.

Would you believe before the game, I announced to everyone to watch for a trick play from Randall El throwing a touchdown pass(He was their backup QB for one game during their QB injury season)! Really did. I wonder after it happened what kind of odds I could have gotten in Vegas?
