Weight... no not yours but your HL's - 12/02/02 07:10 PM

While reading another thread on shipping charges, it gave me a idea for a thread on.....

What's your heaviest Harbour Lights lighthouse?

Not including Navesink or Gold plated lighthouses, of course.. try this without weighing them....

Weigh in with your best single guess of which single lighthouse produced by Harbour Lights weighs the most besides Navesink.

One guess per customer...

I'll say John is correct. Although when I cleaned my curios this weekend, Sankaty and Rose Island felt pretty heavy, and similar in weight.

My guess would be Pemaquid, ME. I was dying to weigh them, but will hold out. I'm sure someone will and tell us.

I would say Montauk LE would be one of the top 5 heavy ones. Hal

I would tend to lean towards Alcatraz. I'm always concerned where I place it on shelves.

We vote for Gay Head or Monomoy Point.

Well I don't have all of the lights that some have mentioned but I also agree that Gay Head is purty darn heavy.

Re: Weight... no not yours but your HL's - 12/29/02 05:09 PM

Nobody guessed the heaviest one... I thought that Jakers might weigh in with a guess! A few of you did guess 2, 3, 4 & 5 correctly!

Listed below are all of those that weigh over 3lb's in order of their weight plus some other that people guessed that were in the in the 2lb range... there are a lot of HL's that are in the 2lb 6 to 8oz range.. I probably weigh close to a hundred lighthouses to come up with the list..

1. HL265 Sherwood Point 3lb 11.8oz

2. HL164 Pemaquid 3lb 10.1oz

3. HL269 Monomoy Point 3lb 09.3oz

4. HL274 Hendricks Head 3lb 09.3oz

5. HL219 Gay Head 3lb 08.1oz

6. HL275 Old St Augustine 3lb 07.7oz

7. HL279 Turkey Point 3lb 06.6oz

8. HL250 Sankaty 3lb 05.9oz

9. HL143 Montauk 3lb 04.0oz

10. HL224 Tillamook Rock 3lb 03.2oz

11. HL707 Old Field Point (Christmas 98) 3lb 02.1oz

12. HL191 Grand Traverse 3lb 01.2oz

13. HL708 East Quoddy (Christmas 99) 3lb 01.0oz

14. HL714 Crossover Island 3lb 01.0oz

15. HL616 Rose Island (Society) 3 00lb.2oz

16. HL227 Cape Agulhas 3lb 00.0oz

17. HL244 Old Point Comfort 2lb 15.6oz

18. HL180 Drum Point 2lb 15.0oz

19. HL256 Seguin 2lb 13.7oz

20. HL278 Battery Point 2lb 13.7oz

21. HL280 Bullock Point 2lb 13.7oz

22. HL177 Alcatraz 2lb 11.5oz

23. HL225 Hillsboro 2lb 07.6 oz

BTW if you can't tell, I got a new digital postal scale that things up to weighs up to 20lb...

When Jakers was here last summer I had him sign Sherwood Point for me. He seemed disappointed that it was on "the bottom shelf". Now I know why I put it there. But I have since moved it up a bit (as he's sure to be returning from time to time in the not too distant future). wink

Thanks for all the work you put into this Paul. Now I'll need to re-arange some of the lights by weight factor. Nah! I'll leave well enough alone.

Congrats to Jakers to selecting Sherwood Point WI which ended up being the 'heavy-weight' HL.

In looking over the latest Product History which accompanied my Lighthouse Legacy, I note that the product run on Sherwood Point was among the smallest of the limited editions at just 3,500.

Smaller lighthouse LE runs (not including Reunion Pieces):

1. Original Cape Hatteras ~260
2. Coquille River 1,138
3. Burrows Island 2,563
4. Sherwood Point 3,500
5. Sister Island 4,000
6. Round Island MS Set 4,000
7. Panama Matched Set 4,000

Re: Weight... no not yours but your HL's - 12/31/02 06:45 AM

Thanks for the information. I am going to have to rethink my shelf placement also. In retrospect I think what through me a curve is the size of the base that spreads out the weight, but by holding them up to my quess (Alcatraz)I can tell the weight. My only comment is what kind of wacko enjoys lighhouses so much that they weigh each of them. I'm not sure what it takes to do that, but thanks for the effort.
