At a recent Bill signing, I had the man place his signature on a #131 Minots Ledge. When I took a look at the bottom of the piece after I got it home,I noticed "1-4-3." Why would Bill put the date of January 4th 03 instead of the actual date? It took me a few seconds to figure that one out. "I love you". I assume this is a standard for Minot signatures. - Joe

Yep. Bill has been signing them that way since they came out. One signed without that 1-4-3 would be a real rarity.

Possibility of a Bill error ........

Speaking about signing, it was kind of cute .... at the Summer Regional Carol asked Bill to sign her program for her and he signed it with the note "1st program signed"

How does 1-4-3 get to "I love you"?

I...... one letter
Love... four letters
You.... three letters

1 letter - 4 letters - 3 letters

Chuck - 1-4-3 is the flash frequency sequence of Minot's. Lights have their own flash frequency sequence to help mariner's know which light they are seeing. The 1-4-3 was then 'translated' into I Love You as Paul explained. If you knew all this, please exqueeze me for being redundant.
