WA Lighthouses visited Jan 19 - 01/20/04 11:06 PM
The day was right for a lighthouse adventure--sunny and predicted to be in the mid 50's and I had the day off from work. So decided to spend the day on the Kitsap Peninsula and try to photograph a couple lighthouses I have not had much success in photographing before.
First stop was Hansville and Point No Point Lighthouse; have many photos of this one but always enjoy stopping here and besides it was on the way

Then on to Skunk Bay which is just down the road a few miles, if you know where to look. This one is privately owned and trying to get in touch with the owners these last couple of weeks has been impossible. However, today Lady Luck was on my side and the gates were open. I was able to walk in part way and get a few pictures before I was asked to leave ---

The rhododendrums are just starting to bloom and spring cannot be far behind, we hope . . .

After leaving Skunk Bay, I headed south to Gig Harbor. This lighthouse is another one that is hard to find from land, but with some doing, I managed to locate it. I had not photographed this one before. Again private property is an issue, but there is a public right of way on a narrow strip of beach and it was high tide. So back into town to grab a bite to eat and wait. After about an hour or so, I was able to make the trek out to the end of the spit where the lighthouse is located.

Well, the sun is starting to go down and I have a two hour drive ahead of me so guess I better head for home.
