Lighthouses, Hot Chocolate & You 2005 - 01/02/05 10:16 PM

smile How many of you will be attending this year's Lighthouses, Hot Chocolate & You this coming weekend? It should be a great NELL event! Let's hope the weather cooperates! See you there!

I'm planning on attending Paul, staying two nights in the Days Inn. Looking forward to meeting lots of "new" people and seeing the lighthouses up close and personal. Do you happen to know if there's any sort of gathering planned for Friday evening for those staying in the hotel?

Re: Lighthouses, Hot Chocolate & You 2005 - 01/03/05 04:12 AM

smile Hi Mombo - My wife and I will be staying there also. I previously asked the same question and was told that nothing had been planned in advance. I know there are some nearby restaurants and I'm sure there will be a few groups of Lighthouse Lovers who will get together for some dining and good conversation.

I don't know if you have been to previous NELL events but everyone usually mingles with each other and has a great time.

I'm looking forward to seeing Ron & Mary Jane Foster, Jim & Irma Streeter, Tom & Arlene Pregman, Shirin Pagels, and Jeremy D'Entremont to name a few.

Are you coming with someone? I forget your "real" name. Looking forward to meeting you also!

All my best, smile

Mombo Sue LeFever will be traveling solo. I.O. isn't allowed to come. He has to stay home and cat-sit! laugh

Let's just hope this mild, green winter continues, at least through next weekend!

MJ & I will be there with Lexis, our 9-year old granddaughter. We plan to arrive at the Days Inn about 5-5:30 PM Friday and look forward to hooking up with some of you for dinner and some chit-chat. Drive safely & don't forget your cookies.

It was great to see all the lighthouse lovers this weekend in MA at LHHC&YOU, 2005. Sis & Rick, Sue (Mombo), Paul & Peg (PFC), Shirin to name a few forum members who were there. There was a typical New England wintery mix of snow and sleet on Saturday but we all perservered and enjoyed the likes of Hospital Point Front Range lighthouse (Home to Rear Admiral & Mrs. David Pekoske, who joined us in touring the rest of the lighthouses), Beverly First Baptist Church (Rear Range), Fort Pickering (Winter Island), Pickering Wharf, Derby Wharf, Tall Ship Friendship, and Marblehead lighthouse. Warmth, Hot Chocolate & Cookies were the fare at the community center in Marblehead, where raffles and friendship abound.

Sorry that some of those planning to attend were unable to make it and we look forward to seeing you in Nantucket in May.

Thank you to all who participated and helped to make this happen.

Re: Lighthouses, Hot Chocolate & You 2005 - 01/09/05 10:10 PM

smile I agree with Ron! It was really great getting to see our historic lights and so many of my wonderful lighthouse friends at the same time! It was so nice to see you Ron and MJ and Lexis, Jim & Irma Streeter, Tom & Arlene Pregman, Tom & Eileen Kenworthy and Kaitlin, Shirin Pagels, Ross Tracy, Sue LeFever and all of the others. Jeremy was missed, he didn't attend due to a very bad cold and the expected bad weather.

I would also like to personally thank Mrs. Bunny Hannoway for her gracious invitation to all to come into her beautiful home near Marblehead Light to get out of the cold and stormy weather. I sincerely hope that her condition continues to improve and she is soon able to return home. Per her mother's wishes, her lovely daughter Holly welcomed us all into her home to escape the storm.

Special thanks go out to Jim & Irma and Tom & Arlene for letting us carpool with them during the event.

All my best,
Paul Conlin

Ron,

Thanks for link to the the pictures ... the ones of the Church were beautifully unexpected.

Seems from the posts here and there it was a great turnout on not such a great day ...

Much appreciated.

Ron...thanks for sharing your pictures on the NELL site. I really like your photo of Marblehead with the bench. Maybe this will be another cover shot for the Lighthouse Legacy. cool

I would like to attend (would be first time) but Robert and I are attending Winter Lights at Calvert Marine Museum in Solomons, MD this weekend. Maybe next year we'll make it for the first time.

Barry & Lorie, thank you for the nice comments about the pictures. Joyce, I certainly hope that you are able to join us for this annual event next year. We always have a blast, get cold and tired and then enjoy each others company over Hot Chocolate & Cookies.

MaryAnn and I will have to finally make one of these. Since getting snowed out of the first one (intial date), we've jealously read your reports.

Some of you may have visited the NELL website and not seen the article by Vice President (and trip coordinator) Tom Pregman about this year's Lighthouses, Hot Chocolate & YOU, 2005. You may read it here:

http://www.nell.cc/2005LHHCY/2005LHHC&Y.htm

It is a great event every year. Plan to join us next January.

Thanks Dan. Wish you guys could have joined us. I forgot to mention Ken Reese (who looks great considering his recent medical problems) and Bryan Acree (also Forums members) were with us. It was nice to see members from far and wide.

Hi Ron and all the people from NELL.
I really enjoyed seeing all your pictures on the
Forums. I especially liked the one of the lighthouse with the ducks and the seagull landing
in front. Also the one of the lighthouse looking through the colored glass.
Ron, I met you and M.J. on the West Coast trip with the Tampa Bay Harbour Lights Collector's Club. Also the Pregman's.
Would like to get a chance to visit NELL when I am in Maine later in the year.
