It was finally time to depart this amazing station. I cannot imagine how the original workers spent six years constructing the base so the tower could be built. My hat goes off to Guy Towers and the group of dedicated workers who stay out at the station three days at a time, working to bring this station back to the jewel it once was. I encourage all of you to make this trip to experience what it feels like to stand in the footsteps of some of the bravest people to “Keep the Flame.”

Great report, Ron! Once-in-a-lifetime. Special recognition to our very own Lighthouse Pixie, Derith Bennett.

Wow Ron, looks as tho you had a trip of a lifetime! Poor ole thing looks like it needs a lot of restoration work to bring it back to the beauty it once was.

Great photos and narrative. I wish I had known about this earlier- I would have done this instead of going to Vegas on my Spring Break- although I might have overtaxed the helicopter a bit.
