Bob...nice close-up pictures of Cape Canaveral. Can anyone get on base and go up close to the lighthouse? I thought that area was closed to the general public.

Yes Lorie, it's restricted. I had a private tour from a Pixie connection(w/ the Pixie) whom I was doing some research for locally on the 'Iron Lighthouse'. We got see a lot of neat stuff off the tour path during our 4 1/2 hour tour. We were there 3 days before the Shuttle came back 'piggy back' or we would have gotten to see that.

Bob, Great pics of Cape Canaveral light!

These have to be the closest photos of CC I've seen.

All taken with the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ3 Review .

My first problem was getting used to shooting using the screen instead of the viewfinder. I wasn't happy at the lighthouse but the results speak for themselves. I quickly got used to it.
My reveiw is it's all I hoped for! Will not replace my Canon but will be a great emergency camera and it fit in my pocket. Survived all the roller coaster rides. And you hardly know it's in your pocket. The night shots were surprising. Most were hand held for several seconds.(see the other camera topic Is this IT? ) The 3 inch screen is great for viewing. I can now carry a camera around for any event.

Awesome photos! I hope to have my own soon. How tall is it, and how far is it from the ocean?

145 feet tall.

Distance form the ocean, one mile or one and one half mile, depending on who you ask.

If you are out in a boat it looks a little small compared to the launch towers that are closer to the ocean.
