South Carolina

I am planning a trip to South Carolina over Labor day weekend to see as many of the South Carolina and Northern Georgia lights as I can. Does anyone out there know of a good charter boats that will take you out to caoe romain?

I have found one company that goes out to the Georgetown Light, but haven't had any luck with Cape Romain. Ideally, I would like to find one chrter that could go to both Georgetown and Cape Romain.

Here is some info on one of the local tour companies. Cape Romain is a tough one. It's close to nothing. I know that there is a tour out to the lighthouse at least once a year in October or November I believe. I will be checking on this in the future because I would like to tour Cape Romain as well.

I did this cruise (ad that Sean posted) to the Georgetown light a couple years ago and it was well worth the price. The cruise takes you past the lighthouse and then lands further up the beach for people to go shelling. I was more interested in the lighthouse and had to walk a ways down the beach to get up close to it. I got very nice pictures...but be warned Bryan...you have to hustle to get down to the light and then back up to the boat in the alotted time they give you! I also had to ford a stream that was about waist deep so wear your swim trunks.

Bryan, I used Captain Sandy's tours. We saw Georgetown and Cape Romain. I was able to walk up to the Georgetown site but not the Cape Romain. (Am I spelling it wrong?)But, he might take you closer.

I have seen it spelled Cape ROMAINE...but I have more often seen it Cape ROMAIN. Looks like we may have another Ocracoke / Okracoke...but I think that in regards to the modern spelling of my favorite island of the outer banks, Ocracoke clearly is the common spelling.

One thing for sure, if you get to Cape Romain this time of year take the bug repellent!!! The flying teeth will tear you up!

Bryan, when the time comes to see these two lighthouses, I would greatly appreciate it if you could find me any postcards of them while you are in the area. I have a big collection, but none of those two lights. I will gladly pay you for any cards you buy. I have taken photos of both lights from a plane, but would also like to have some postcards of each! THANKS!
