I got that email also. So when do we officially get to see them- after Rosemont?

Can't wait for Rosemont so we can see the photos. I'm surprised to see the edition size of Eldred Rock is only 4,000.

Maybe we can see the pictures on tonight's chat.

Looks like a great lineup for 2000! I guess more of the old HLs in my collection will be going into the vault.

Some great pics at the chat last night of the latest up and coming HL line. I'm looking forward to them hitting the shelves soon!

Re: New Releases - 06/16/00 03:57 PM

Excitement was high last night on the chat as John was showing the latest HL pieces. If the actual looks as good as the pictures...they are great..I really like Mombo's pick and will add it to my collection as well as Elder Rock. So many of the LEs are not in the areas that I collect in.

My only problem is changing my mind about buying more GLOWs..said I would not! Oh well, isn't it okay for a girl to change her mind?

Where did everyone see the list of new releases?? I feel like I'm out of the loop. Was it in the Legacy that I haven't received yet? Also where or what is # 250??

I also heard while up in Maine that HL631 Fresnel Lens 4000 has already been sold out to dealers.

I am glad to see Eagle Bluff listed! It was the first lighthouse that I visited and took the tour through.

We keep saying you've got to make the chats. Generally it's in that place that a few photos are displayed in the week or so before released.

The new models will be on display at www.HarbourLights.com/ on Thursday, June 22, the opening day of Rosemont.

This coming chat, we'll definitely be displaying the latest for Rosemont.

I'm also happy to see Eagle Bluff - another Door Co. lighthouse! Will be interesting to see how much of the bluff is included. Excellent representation of new Great Lakes pieces.

If you haven't signed up with a dealer for the 1st of the Fresnel Lens pieces - do it now. I predict this will be a valuable set, especially if the others have the same edition size - with the first in the series becoming the rarest. (Wouldn't surprise me to see a futures market spring up on ebay.)

While you're on the phone with that dealer, might as well reserve Eldred Rock.

And finally JC can build his Port Huron diorama. You can too! All you need is an HO railroad bridge, the Huron, the new HL Ft. Gratiot lighthouse, and a miniature Frank DeKova doll in his PHHS Big Red Chief outfit.

Looks like a great list of new ones! I haven't got all the latest ones yet and now we will have more! Getting harder and harder to keep up with them! MORE GLOWS? Maybe these will be popular. From what I have seen and heard from some of the dealers, they don't sell that well!

Re: New Releases - 06/18/00 08:02 AM

>>Do you think there will be some hording of this first model?<<

Possibly. In the past there have been individuals (some on this board) and a few secondary dealers looking to make a buck by doing this. The uniqueness of the piece (the 1st, a lens) and its low edition size certainly should make it desirable. And that attracts the speculator. The only rational I can think of for hording is to make a profit over the list price.

With only 4000, someone would have to work quickly to get multiples to hoard. The first 2000 (?) will go out as autoships and likely are spoken for as part of pre-arrangements with dealers made by regular customers. The remaining 2000 get divied up between the larger dealers - so there may be a few pockets of quantity available for a short time. I suspect that time may have passed already.

More likely the hording (if it occurs) will be from collectors who buy one or two extras ("to give as a gift") and sit on 'em for a while.

The impact of this can be quickly to drive the secondary price up because they'll be hard to come by. And then - not to put too fine a point on it - the weasling short-term horder can make his/her extra $70, or whatever. The longer term horder might wait for the second in the series to come out which will draw more attention to the importance of the first.

Once the 4000 models are dispersed the price will settle in at a point the market likes, but it'll still be a rare and desirable piece. That is, until they do it as a GLOW. :-)

This is all idle conjecturing on my part. Call Lighthouse Depot and tell 'em you want to buy 10 - see what they say.

As for me, the only duplicates I've ever purchased have been of Reunion pieces. Not a fixed edition size - all attendees could order up to the maximum so it was not like by buying two you were depriving someone of your extra. The way I figure, doing this actually put more pieces on the market which a) means more folks can own one, and b) keeps the secondary price lower than if the available quantity was less.

Re: New Releases - 06/22/00 05:31 AM

HL just keeps making more and more great pieces. Have decided to back off and work on the southern lights only for now. Having to see about an extra job to do that. Probably will jump in on the Lens frenzy though.
