No rumors lately ? - 09/14/02 02:56 AM

C'mon, this thread has been too quiet for awhile. Someone always knows something or can at least start a rumor...
So what gives? Please don't make me start the Indian River LSS rumor again......as I thought this was pretty much confirmed. Any one know if it is nearing production in China for a sometime soon release? ...hint hint

You're right, things have been very quiet lately in the Rumor thread. Past years have always had people voice their educated guesses for the following year's releases by now. Harbour Lights is doing a good job of keeping things quiet.

I think our major clues to future limited editions lies in the Little Lights of Mine. I'm not saying that every LLOM that hasn't been released as a limited edition will be the new HL releases but you can bet some of them will.

I would guess the time has come for East Brothers, Watch Hill, and Kingston Roundout. Those are three educated guesses and I have no first-hand information regarding them. We'll have to just wait and see.

While in CA, I found Reyes, Bonita,East Brother, and Vicente LLOM and bought them, of course. Do you really think these will be LEs someday...maybe in 2003?

You never know, Nana! If I were a betting man, I would put my money on East Brothers first. The east coast did well in 2002. Maybe 2003 will be the west coast year.

I've heard rumors that space aliens have taken over Congress.

What?

Oh, you mean HARBOUR LIGHTS rumors.

Never mind!

Re: No rumors lately ? - 09/18/02 04:05 PM

Hey Kent, isn't one of those aliens that took over Congress the one that Hillary Clinton was dating? You know, the one that she left her lesbian lover for, the alien she's having a baby with. That's what the World Weekly Newspaper said and you know they wouldn't EVER lie about a story. laugh

Re: No rumors lately ? - 09/18/02 04:43 PM

At the events this past weekend in Minnesota Bill stated that Pt. Bonita should be an early 2003 release. He stated that it is 'Done' and they just have to decide when it goes out.

He also stated that another Alaska light is 'Done' and should be a 2003 release although he wouldn't as to the lights name or when it was coming.

And one last tidbit gleaned from Bill: He thinks there will be one more surprise release announced for 2002 yet...we will have to watch and see...

BonnieJean,

Aren't all those "Fine" newspapers based in FL?

Which might explain why the people in FL have so much trouble voting.

Re: No rumors lately ? - 09/18/02 05:31 PM

That's great news about Pt Bonita.

I'll go out a very low limb here and say that if they do the great job they are capable of on this one it will not only be a "WOW", but it will be a very early Retired "WOW".

Let's keep our fingers crossed.

Re: No rumors lately ? - 09/18/02 08:13 PM

Yup Dennis, all those "fine" newspapers are based out of Palm Beach, Florida - the first site of the Anthrax scare (I don't know why anyone would want to give those honest and friendly reporters Anthrax?!?). Just remember, the voting and the newspapers are on the Eastcoast of Florida, here on the Gulfcoast we know how to vote - we have pictures that we circle instead! :p LOL

Point Bonita - where do I sign up for mine? smile

BonnieJean,

My Main Post Office is still closed because of Antrhax. I live in Hamilton, NJ and that's one of the Post Offics closed because they had the letters come through there.

We were getting the irridated mail- mostly junk- for two months after the started processing it. It went from the mailbox to the trah can.

Any guesses out there as to what this could be? We've had a few wonderful surprises this year. Some expected, some not.

Hmm... I wonder!

[QUOTE]I can only hope that it will be St. John's River Light at Mayport, FL.QUOTE]

So, do I Rich

Last year Bill told me that the St. John's river light was coming out this year. Since I have not seen it yet, I thought it would be a good one to hold for the southern H.L. Reunion. Jacksonville is one of the few Southern Cities that still have lighthouses that haven't been sculpture and has the facilities to handle a 1000 people.

As I stated last year, The ST. John River Light will come with the keeper's house. It is very interesting how the information was obtained for the sculpting of the keeper's house. The Keepers house was taken down for the Mayport Air Strip.

Re: No rumors lately ? - 09/22/02 03:29 PM

Daniel, I'm with your thinking 100%. Jacksonville or Daytona Beach would be an excellent choice for the next reunion. There are lighthouses available, rooms available, pleanty of things to do and beautiful weather during the month of October. Maybe it will be St John's River light that will be announced at the Winter Regional. I wouldn't mind that at all.

Re: No rumors lately ? - 09/22/02 04:08 PM

Rich
I was at the world gulf village two weeks ago for the 4-H 100th reunion. It has a gigantic conference room and I believe the hotel could hold over a 1000 people. The Golf tournaments are held there so I would think it would be large enough for a Harbour Light reunion. It has an IMAX theater. I thought how great it would be at the reunion and be able to see lighthouse all over the US on a 50-foot high screen.

The World Gulf village is about 15 min. from St Augustine and an hour from the Jacksonville international airport. When I get some more time, I will copy this into the Reunion forum.

Re: No rumors lately ? - 09/23/02 01:01 AM

Go for it Daniel. It's time Florida got some respect. The Florida lights seem to sell out the fastest yet most feel the reunion in Baltimore was the South. All HL has to do is check and they will see that we do have the facilities in Northern Florida to house a reunion.

I went searching for the World Gulf Resort and what I found was the World Golf Village Renaissance Resort which only has 300 rooms in its ten stories...

Maryland, in the south.... I don't think so! Some where in Florida or Charleston would be great. We stopped in Charleston this past summer on a cruise. I got some nice pictures of Morris Island and Sullivan Island lights. eek

Re: No rumors lately ? - 09/23/02 03:32 AM

Just a bit of Information: If you were to have the reunion in Jacksonville - you have Amelia Island Lighthouse, St. John Lighthouse, Mayport Light Station, and St. Augustine.

Amelia Island is not open to the public, it has received a grant from the state to start renovations on the stairs and other problems with the light. You would need to contact the CG Auxilary or Hal Belcher which works closely with the CGA to be allowed onto the property. The property is surrounded by private homes of people that hate the idea of people swarming the area to see the lighthouse. You would not be able to cimb the tower due to the bad shape of the granite stairs. Though you can get wonderful pictures of the lighthouse from the grounds. And if you ask Hal real nice he may even show you the slide show of some old pictures of the Lighthouse and the old range lights that were once there. smile

The two Mayport/St. Johns Lights are on a very secure Navy Base. You would have to have a Military personel sponsor you or an ex-military personel sponsor you. I'm not sure how many people plan on visiting these two lights, but you may want to contact Andy Liliski of the Mayport Lighthouse Association, along with the Mayport Naval Base to set up times to visit the lights. They are both worth the trouble and begging it takes to get on the base. wink

St. Augustine, as you know, is always open to the public. I'm sure the person setting up the reunion will be able to contact the museum and get everyone in - you will want to contact Kathy Flemming on that.

Don't forget that Ponce Inlet is about 1 - 1½ hours from there also. That is another one that is open year round and is beautiful.

If you need any info or numbers, let me know. cool

Re: No rumors lately ? - 09/26/02 03:47 AM

Bah HUM BUG !!

How about the next reunion in MAINE !! Of course, we don't have as many lights as Michigan, but a good runner up! With a cruise to all the island lights!

Personally, I like the Northern FL idea.... Gives me a reason to stop in to OBX on the way down from Maine. hee hee

Re: No rumors lately ? - 09/26/02 06:18 PM

Hi Chris!

I think Maine is an excellent idea! How about the Northern one in Maine and the Southern one in
Florida, in the same year! I used to live in Maine and I still love going back there.

Re: No rumors lately ? - 09/27/02 03:17 AM

I second the motion on a reunion in Maine. It (Maine) is my favorite state. We spent 4 days there in August and enjoyed every minute of it. Sharon and I love to take our time heading up the coast of Maine especially after Portland. 10 miles northerly on the map takes about 60 or more miles on the odometer (Down and back up those wonderful fingers of land that jut out into the Atlantic and have those beautiful lighthouses at the end of each).

Without a doubt, Maine has one of the finast coastlines to be seen anywhere, and many, many miles of it to take in.
